The Eagle Fire department was called to the Wenzel prop erty in north part of town last Saturday evening. The Elmwood department was also called in an effort to the save the barn close by. The house was com pletely detrpped. The occu pants were not at home at the time. Donald Wulf went to Indiana The new look in leather ... Larry Walberg had the mis fortune to fall while playing football in his yard at home and injured his .shoulder and iarm. He was taken to the hos ipital for X-rays and treatment for a couple of days. Eagle Families Enjoy Basket Dinner The following families enjoyed a basket dinner at the lovely home of Mrs. Laura West last Friday while the Noel Fisher family were visiting from Illi nois. The dinner has been a traditional affair for the last quarter of a century and in last few years the grandchildren of the families has been the inter esting note. The following were present of this annual affair. Oril Allen family of Lincoln, formerly of Eagle; Lavern Allen of Fair mont, Nebr.; Fred Rudolph fam-. ily of Malcolm, Nebr., formerly of Eagle; Phyllis Rudolph, of North" Platte, Nebr.; Otto Hin rich family of Pleasant Dale, Nebr.; Mrs. Hinrich is the form er Fae Ellen Rudolph; Chas. Scattergood's of Eagle; Eldon Sorensen family of Ruskin, Nebr.; Mrs. Sorensen is the form er Faye Arlene' Scattergood; Harry West's of Lincoln, Nebr.; John Fischer's of Eagle; Noel Fischer family of Illinois; and O. L. Fischer family of Wymore, Nebr. The afternoon was spent visiting and enjoying music on piano and' vocal solos, includ ing a piano duet by Mr. and Mrs. Orel Fischer; whistling solo by Phyllis Rudolph; vocal duet by Mrs. Eldon Sorensen and Mrs. Otto Hinrichs; mixed quartette and song by Gary Fischer, son of Noel' Fischer. - Eagle Mrs. Ray Wall reutrned home from the hospital Friday afternoon-after undergoing surgrey and has been very ill with a heart ailment. However, we are happy to report she is much im proved. Her daughter, Mrs. White and family from Purdnm, Nebr.. are with her and will re man for a few days. Mrs. White is the former Doris Wall. They stopped at the Oryi L. Fischer home at Wymore, Nebr., Tuesday after noon and evening enroute co Eagle. The latter family also joined the Fischer family on Wednesday evening, remaining uihii liiudy evening. Eagle Everett Morton returned home from the hospital Friday after noon after undergoing surgery several weeks ago. We are hap py to report he is recovering very satisfactorily. Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Allen of Council Bluffs -visited at latter's home of her parents, E. J. Mor ton's during the Thanksgiving vacation. Mrs. Allen is the for mer Kaye MOrton. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Muencher attended the 50th wedding an versary of the latter's cousin, John Campbells at Lincoln, Nebr., last Thursday r. m. The Methodist family night was well attended Sunday even ing with, a basket dinner fol lowed by a social hour and an i official board meeting. Mrs. Hallie . Stewart spent Thanksgiving day at Pawnee City, Nebr., with her son, Dr. Hubert Stewart and family. Sfro remained for a longer visit, o:c pecting to be home next week. ..The Wayn? Deles Dernier family of Columbia, Mo., enjoy ed a visit with Mr. Deles Der nier's sister, Mrs. Harry Snokes and family for Thanksgiving and, Mrs. Deles Dernier's sister, Mrs.-H. N. Erskine Jr., Sunday. Guests at the H. D. Fischer home for Thanksgiving dinner were Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Matzke, Mrs. Krabill, Mr. and Mrs. O. D. TO SUBSIDIZE WHEAT EXPORTS A new subsidy program def signed to increase wheat exports has been announced by the Ag riculture Department. The Com modity Credit. Corporation will offer for immediate sale "a lim ited auantity" of Government owned wheat for export, in ad dition to the wheat moving un der the International Wheat Agreement.
