They reported having a very god time. Roland Cooper and Dean St ratton went to Lincoln Saturday and came back Sunday night. They spent the two days at the Navy Air Reserve Base in Lin coln. Mrs. Vesta Baker was a Than ksgiving guest at the home of her son and family. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Baker and Sandra. Thurs day evening, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Taylor and children and Mrs. Vesta Baker were guests of Mrs. Hattie Taylor. It was also Mrs. Baker's birthday. Birthday Is Celebrated ARTHRITIS? I have been wonderfully blessed in being restored to active life after being crip pled in nearly every joint in my body and with muscular soreness from head to foot. I had Rheumatoid Arthritis and other forms of Rheuma tism, hands deformed and my ankles were set. Jello and coffee was served with the cake. A piece of the birthday cake was given to Mrs. Ed Freeman, who lives in an apartment next to Mrs. Taylor. Guests were Mrs. Vesta Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Taylor and children and Mr. and Mrs. Nor ton Johnson and Clint. Weoninsr Water I Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ranney, John and Elwin and Miss Ella Freudenburg were Thanksgiving day guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hy Kirchhoff Leo, and Erma. Thei son, Dick Kirchhoff, was hom from Meade and had dinner wit them also. Wednesday was tfc birthday of Mrs. Kirchhoff, s the dinner Thursday was also i honor of Mrs. Kirchhoffs' birth day. Wcenine Water ROYAL NEIGHBORS The Royal Neighbors held their monthly meeting on Friday, Nov. 28. Plans were made for the next meeting on December 26. It will be election of officers. Each lad is to bring either sandwiches oi cookies for the lunch to be ser ved with the coffee. There wil be a 40c gift exchange. Mrs. Byron Bal'.?r and Mr? Arthur Jones were the hostesses Weeping Water John Kohler, an uncle of Mrs Hy Kirchhoff passed away oi Sunday, and funeral services wil be held on Tuesday at the Firs Lutheran church near Avoca Mr. Kohler lived at Otoe anc was nearly 90 years of age. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Lindsey end sons and Mr. and Mrs. Heno Irons were guests on Thanksgiv ing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lindsey. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knaup Rodney and Roberta were Sun- day guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Knaup of Murdock. Presents include packs of chewing gum and cigarets, bags of candy and soap which soldiers can obtain but which are scarce in Thailand. Sf5 Dlive and Benji. They returned o Omaha Saturday. David Olive was also a euest. Sunday, Mrs. Dlive and Benji tok David to Omaha, where he left by train for his home in Chicago. Mrs. Gordon Wilcoxen stayed in Avoca from Tuesday until Thursday with another teacher, vliss Anderson, whose home is in Lincoln. Miss Anderson came to Weeping Water with Mrs. Wilcoxen on Thursday and went on to Lincoln by tram. She re turned to Weeping Water by train unday evening and was an overnight guest at the Wilcoxen home. Mr. Wilcoxen took the two teachers to Avoca Monday morn ing. Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Patton and Diane were Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wiles and family. Miss Jo Ann Meyer went to Lincoln Sunday evefting to spend a couple of days with Winona Doty. Weeping Water -BIRTH Mr. and Mrs. Carl Christensen are the parents cf a boy born Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Luth eran hospital in Omaha. The baby weighed 8 pounds and 8 ounces. Mr. and Mrs. Imer MicheLsen. Sr., are. the maternal grandpar ents. Mr. Christensen went after Mrs. Christensen Tuesday and Power Off for Fifteen Hours At Weeping Water Weeping Water was without electricity for 15 hours and 10 minutes during the storm. Elec tric service failed at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday and wasn't restored un til 7:55 a.m. Wednesday. Ac cording to Floyd Hite, local man ager of OPPD, the fifteen hours and 10 minutes was the longest that Weeping Water has been without electrical service since 1923. Mr. Hite said the electrical trouble was centered near Pa pillion. Local residents were us ing candles, kerosene lamps, lanterns and flashlights. The women did what cooking they could on their heating stoves. Huge drifts of snow blocked almost every road leading into Weeping Water.
