Mrs. Charles Knox was in charge of devotions. She had scripture reading and prayer. Mrs. Sigvald Jensen, Mrs. Stella Worrnan and Mrs. Ted Carnes gave the lesson. ' Re view of 'Missions as a Whole." Mrs. Henry Ruhse sang a solo, "Watchman, Tell Us of the Night The ladies reported clearing over $500 by serving meals at the fair. The grouo voted to pay $100 on the retired minis ter's fund. A pocket size New Testament was given to the person shak ing hands with the most peo ple at Sunday school and church. This award was given to Carol Nickels. She shook hands with S3 people. Carol is seven. Mrs. T. V. Hubbel pastor, read some verses from the Bible and the person that knew where these verses were was to re ceive New Testament also. This award was given to Emmet Car ter of Avoca. Wppuiriff- Water Churches Form Association At Weeping Water The churches in Weeping Wa ter have formed an organiza tion under the sponsorship of the Nebraska Council of Churches. Rev. Fred Gardner was appointed president. The churches in the organization are the Methodist. United Mis sionary, Christian and the Con gregational. The first ioint meeting will be held Tuesday. Watt-r Get-Together Picnic Is Held Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Rothe, Alan and Galen went to Coun cil Bluffs Sunday to attend a picnic dinner at Fairmont Park. He is the father of Mrs. Raymond Freeman. Mr. and Mrs. Free man visited Mr. Holscher Sat urday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Rothe and children were Tuesday evening visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Hammons and children. Mrs. Clifford Cooper visited Mrs. Ray Bridenstine Tuesday afternoon. Weepinsr Water Weeping Water Wins Banner Twenty-eight members of the Methodist church drove to Mynard Sunday evening to at tend the Cass County Chris tian Fellowship Association meeting. They brought home the Fellowship attendance ban ner. This is the first time in the association's history that Weeping Water has won this award. The Weeping Water church is very proud of win ning this award. Rev. Paul Dick of Omaha was the main speaker. The next fellowship meeting will be held November 2 at the First Methodist church in Weep ing Water. The hybrid seed corn harvest is underway at Steckley's. The women started working Friday morning. Mrs. Alton Sterling started working there this fall. Mrs. Elmer Terry is some what improved this week. She will be able to set up in bed this week. The Christian church ladies canned 30 quarts of Deaches for Mrs. Terry Tuesday and 20 quarts for the Child's Saving Institute in Omaha. Gary Van Horn and Richard Nickels were Sunday supper guests of Derald Freeman of Avoca. Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Baltha zor and two sons of Plattsmouth were Sundav afternoon visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Hector Baltha zor and Larry. Mr. and Mrs. P. R. Michelsons End Eastern Vacation Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Michel son, Jr., and children returned Sunday from a two week vaca tion trip to Pittsburgh, Pa. They visited Mrs. Michelson's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Edie Von Hedemann. They visited the new airport in Pittsburgh. It has the largest terminal build ing in the world. The Danish Brotherhood headquarters was held in the auditorium and the Danish Sis terhood met in the Odd Fellows hall. A fine time was had by all attending and will long be re membered. Weeping; Watei James Kivett returned home Thursday after spending the past few weeks in the Bryan Memorial hospital. He is in a cast and will have to remain in bed for the next three months. Mrs. Roy Ward entered Bryan Memorial hospital in Lincoln Saturday, Sept. 6 for observa tion and treatment. Weeping Water Junior Women Have Picnic The Junior Woman's club met Friday evening at the home of Miss Pearl Schultz. The ladies met at 6:30 p. m. for a picnic supper. Mrs. Ruth Thome and Miss Schultz served a delicious supper consisting of fried chick en, baked beans, tossed salad, homemade rolls, cinnamon rolls, cream puffs, with peppermint ice cream, coffee and iced tea. Miss Schultz, president, pre sided at the business meeting. Twelve members were present. Each member is going to send something for the annual ba zaar at a hospital in Omaha. I VWping Watr Loses Fingers In Mower Mishap Mrs. Cyrus Livingston had the misfortune to lose the ends of j her two middle fingers last j Thursday morning.
