Training Larry Pollard returned home Sunday, July 20, from Walker Air Base. Roswell, New Mexico, where he had six weeks training with an R.- O. T. C. unit of the University of Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. John Chienpa of Ros- i well entertained him and he made some trips to Old Mexico. Mrs. Chieppa is the former Ruth Pollard of Nehawka. NehawKa Rev. and Mrs. Walter Carson, Meredin. Kan., called at the Walter Power home Sunday. Mrs. Carson is Mrs. Power's cousin. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Power and twin sons, Jefferson Citv, Mo., are guests at the Pow er home. Mrs. Sterling Ross and three daughters accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Ross of Nebraska City to Wheatridge. Colo., to vis it Mrs. Sterling Ross' mother, Mrs. A. A. Block and Mr. Block. Union Mrs. Herman Comer returned to St. Mary's Hospital at Ne braska City last Tuesdav after noon where she underwent a major operation on Wednesday. While thev were here, little Janet cele brated her fifth birthday. Unlnn Todds Vacationing In Colorado Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Todd. Melvin Jr. and Nancy Kay left Union last Thursday morning for a two weeks vacation, which thev will spend visiting friends in western Nebraska and later spend some time with friends in Colorado. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Snod grass attended the band concert at Nebraska Citv last Sundav evening. They also called on Mrs. Herman Comer at St. Mary's hospital. Mrs. Jim Finkle and sister Linda Rogers of Stella. Nebr.. were week end euests of Mr. and Mrs. John McOuin. On Sunday they all attended a picnic at Peru. Miss Racheal Taylor of Lin coln is spendinrr a few davs with Mr. and Mrs. William Porter. On Sundav evening Mrs. Porter and Miss Tavlor attended the Ded ication services of the organ and tower chimes which honor Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Wescott as a memorial. T'nlon Shower Honors Bride-To-Be Marv Lou Morton was honor ed with a bridal shower which was given bv Shirley Lee at her home last Saturday afternoon. The bride to be. received many nice gifts. Todd on Thursday, July 24th. Twelve members and seven chil dren were present. Invited quests were: Mrs. John McQuin. Mrs. Randall Faris and Mrs. Mitchell Rich. Mrs. Faris joined the society as a new member. Mrs. Todd led the devotional service using as her topic "Earth's Abundance and Man's Stewardship" using Psalm 19:1- ' 4. Plans were made for a fried chicken supper to be held at the church on the evening of Aug- i ust 14th to which the public is invited. Mrs. L. B. Mougey re viewed a chapter of the Study Book. The hostess served re freshments at the close of the meeting. The next meeting will be on August 7th at the home of Mrs. C. E. Morris. Lnion Mrs. Wayne Surface and two children and Mrs. Andr Walte mier of Plattsmouth left Thurs day morning for Sheldon. Miss ouri, where they had been call ed by the serious illness of their mother, who had undergone a very serious operation. Others will be built at Fremont, Hebron and Waverly. Location of the remainder has not yet been decided. A highway Department spokes man said the stations cost about $30,000 each to build, including $2,000 for the soales. They will be manned by State Safety Patrolmen.
