Cullen of Avoca was elected to a two year term as director of the Lincoln Diocesan Council of Catholic Women at the group's annual convention Thursday Mrs. Cullen will represent the Plattsmouth Deanery on the board of directors. Mrs. Ed Berlett of Plattsmouth was elected to a one-year term as director from Plattsmouth deanery. More than 350 Catholic women from throughout the state attended the annual conference. Garden Club Meeting Sun Bonnet Garden Club met at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Bowman on Thursday. May 8 with 15 members present. Mrs. Bernice Eastridee led in the 'Lord's Prayer" which was followed by roll call at which members answered by naming state flowers and their know ledge of each. The lesson on "Tulip Festival" was presented by Mrs. Velma Bowman. She gave a reading of a trip to Pella. Ia., where the festival is held. She also .gave a legend on dogwood. Pictures and information on herbs were given in a lesson by Mrs. Verna Brown. Two quiz games on. herbs and one on flowers were also conducted. Winners were Mrs. Velma Bow man, Mrs. Edith Akeson. N.Y., expects to be sent overseas for duty when his schooling is completed.
