Hubert Brother Of Mrs. Friest Is Visitor Here Last Week F. J. Philleo of Emory, Virgin ia, was in Plattsmouth visiting at the T. I. Friest home last week. Mr. Philleo is a brother of Mrs. Friest. An instructor at Emory and Henry College, he spent Wednes day and Thursday here. He was a graduate of Wayne College and the University of Nebraska. Mr. Philleo will teach at Wayne college next year. W. Taylor were at Ashland Sunday visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Char les Gade. The occasion was the golden wedding observance of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fleischman of Manley. Mrs. Gade is a daughter of the couple and Mr. Taylor a brother of Mrs. Fleisch man. A large number of rela tives and friends from western Cass county were in attendance at the anniversary party. Miss Donna Frans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ewing Frans of Murray, Ne braska, became the bride of SSgt. Hubert Grabowski, son of Mr, and Mrs. Joseph Grabow ski or Bridgeport, Penn. The marriage lines were read by Rev. Edward C. Tuchek in the presence of relatives and close friends. Jack Frans. brother of the bride and Miss Patricia Hadraba were attendants. The bride chose for her wed ding a pink linen suit with white accessories. A corsage of white pom poms was worn by the bride. Miss Patricia Hadraba wore a navy blue suit with white ac cessories and a corsage of pink carnations. The groom was dressed in air force uniform and his attendant in a gray business suit. Immediately following the ceremony the newly married couple left for a short trip cast. Welfare Chairman Mary Wor i sham reported that twenty-two dollars worth of bedding had been given to the Florence. Kansas, flood relief. She also disclosed that two complete layettes had been mailed to Milwaukee. Wisconsin. The next meeting will be held September 7 at the home of Rose Day. The new project vil be bedside stand covers for hos pital uses, and scuffers for hos pital patients. j Sunday School j Has Annual Picnic The Sunday school of the Plattsmouth Episcopal church held its annual picnic at River view Park in Omaha Sundav afternoon. Members of the con' gregation also were invited. Leaving here shortly after noon, the group enjoyed a picnic dinner, games and animals in the zoo. The returned to Plattsmouth in the evening. Christ Lutheran three visitors were present. Roll call was answered by giving one of Jesus" miracles. Mrs. Lentz led in the lesson about Liberia. A delicious lunch was served by the hostess. Hooper Family Here For Visit Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kirker and family of Hooper, Nebraska, were here for a short time Sun day visiting at the home of Mrs. Nellie Shea and Ha Kirker, sis ters of Mr. Kirker. The party were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Long near Pacific Junction, Mrs. Long also being a sister of Mr. Kirker. Mr. and, Mrs. Lee Johnson have returned to their home in Chicago after spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. James Mc Kinstry at Meadow. Mr. and Mrs. Don Mucha, Mrs. Inez Mucha and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Valehradsky of Om aha called at the McKinstry home while the Johnsons were here. Miss Nadia Schlater celebrated her 83rd birthday quietly at home Tuesday. She has been in very good health for several yeas. Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Brown and little daughter left Sun day for their home at Salem, Oregon. Mrs. Brown arV daugh ter had been here for several months and Mr. Brown came after his school was out for the summer. F. J. Bachman, 93, father of Mrs. Fred Lesan, died Tuesday evening following a long illness. Mr. Bachman had made his home here with his daughter for several years. Mr. and Mrs. Iris Gerdes have announced the birth of a daugh ter, Saturday, July 28, 1951, at the hospital in Nebraska City. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Vogler are getting a great deal of en joyment out of the little boy they adopted in June. The baby has gained 4 lbs., since coming to the Vogler home. Albert J. Meisinger has been in the Methodist hospital for the past week receiving treat ment. Mrs. Don Smith of Lincoln is spending a few days this week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Isaac. A. R. Stander was in Elgin, Nebr., on business Saturday. The home of Mrs. Helen Cleg horn is being given a new coat of paint. Bob Twiss is doing the work. Mrs. Hazel Ahl acted as li brarian while Mrs. Bcdella Stander was visiting in Mis souri recently. Mrs. W. A. Ingram. Mrs. Ralph Welter, Mrs. James Larson and Mrs. Harold Hansen were Oma ha shoppers Tuesday. J. R. Mayfield has his arm out of the cast again. He was injured while working with the tractor several weeks ago. Dennis Wehrman came out from Lincoln and is spending a few days here with his mother, Mrs. Erna Wehr man. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Carnicle and Mary Lou of South Bend were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Carnicle's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh O'Brien. Geo. Ossenkop received a se veie cut on one of his fingers on his left hand Saturday while cutting weeds with a sickle. Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Mc Gregor have been" visiting Mrs. McGregor's father in Scandia, Kansas. They also visited their son, Bob and family at Quinter, Kansas, before returning home. The Robertson house, occu pied by the Joe Miller family, is being remodeled. A bath room is being added and the water line changed and sewer connection made. Tommy Roeber bumped his head Monday evening while greasing a truck at the Kah land garage. At first it was thought he was not hurt, but in a shprt time ne passed oui and was taken to the hospital, He was unconscious for a about three hours. Engelking of Elmwood, became the bride of Jim E. Mat son, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene H. Matson of Fremont, at an eight o'clock church service, Thursday night, August 2. The Rev. Elby Boosinger of Alma performed the ceremony at the Christian church at Elm wood. Miss Joan M. Backemeyer was maid of honor, and Miss Janice Matson, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid. They wore pink and blue goivns, styled in ballerina length Tith off-shoulder neck lines and circle skirts. Miss Backemeyer wore pink and Miss to minor surgery. She was to return home the last of the week. Mrs. Minnie Braim has re ceived the sad news of the death of her niece. Mrs. Flora Thompson at a Denver hospital Saturday. Funeral services were held at Brighton, Colo., Tues day. Mrs. Thompson was for merly Flora Burns. Mrs. Mabel Gibbs of Chatta nooga, Tenn., who has been vis iting at the Harry Whitebread and Noel Gujl homes the past 2 weeks, left for Topeka, Kan., last week. Mrs. Gibbs and Mrs. Whitebread are sisters. Mr. and Mrs. August Funke and Buddy returned Tuesday of last week from a vacation trip through Estes Park, Colo., Salt Lake City, Utah, and Yellow stone Park in Wyoming. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Frans left Wednesday for Milwaukee where Mr. Frans has accepted a position in the heavy machin ery manufacturing company. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Group and small son arrived home Wednesday of last week from a 3 weeks trip to Sacramento and other places in California. They visited Mrs. Roy Young, Mr. Group's sister and his moth er. Mrs. K. V. Mrs. Max Burmeister was called to Fremont early last week by the serious condition of her brother-in-law, Charles K. Peterson. Mr. Peterson passed away on Friday.
