Dis tress Warrant No. 392 u.u The American Legion Auxili- j ary held their regular meet ing Thursday afternoon in the lounge of the 40 & 8 club rooms with President Dorothy Jane cek presiding. Reports were given by the various committees. Child Wel fare, Sophia Wolever, gave $15 to a Vets family that were in need of it. April is Child Wel fare month and Mrs. Wolever is planning a program with the men at that time. Ida Patton, hospital chairman, reported an increase in the unit's hospital quota due to the two new hospitals in the state and an increase in patients due to the Korean war. Our quota is nine washable men's robes and 15 glove pockets. These are used in the operating room to sterilize the rubber gloves. Miss Mrs. Bessie Core Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stiffler, Jennie and Danny. Miss Betty Hrabik and Mrs. Ernest Engel kemier were guests at a tea and open house at Love Memo- I rial Hall on the Ag College cam pus in Lincoln Sunday atter noon. Rose Ann Stiffler and Joanne Engelkemier are resi dents of this hall. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn E. Pick rel are the parents of a daugh ter born Feb. 7 at Immanuel hospital in Omaha. The Pick rels have two other children, both boys. Sunday guests at the A. H. Peterson home were Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Roack of Omaha. Mrs. Grant Peters and the Misses Wehrman of Murdock and Mrs. Betty Jardine. Bill Gaebel has started to build a new ranch type home on the lot just south of the Theo. Wilcox home at the southwest part of town. Mr. and Mrs. John Schoeman celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last Saturday at the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. August Wendt. Mr. and Mrs. Schoeman are neither one very well, but able to be up and around. They had a delicious dinner and enjoyed the day very j much visiting with their rela tives. The national com mander asked all present to write to their law makers in Washington, D. C, insisting they vote yes on the universal mili-i tary training bill soon to be voted upon. The unit's secre tary was asked to write as the members of the Auxiliary are very much behind the bill. For the membership drawing the name of Mrs. Tom Walling was called. She was absent. Mrs. Floyd Stratton was formerly Doris McPherson of Plattsmouth The Blue and Gold banquet the birthday of the Scouts, was held Friday evening, February 16. Following the dinner a short talk was given by Ken Henry Scout field representative. The meeting was opened by Cub master John Schlater. Mrs. Dorothy Nessen received her den mother's service pin also. Happy Hour club meeting was held February 9 with Mrs. Es ther Inman, with Mrs. Francis Schliefert and Beulah Isaac in charge. Guests were Mrs. Nile Donnelson, Mrs. H. F. Thur man and also Mrs. Joe Zastera, Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Carnicle and Mary Lou visited the Hugh O'Briens Sunday evening. Mrs. F. J. Knecht was a Mur ray visitor Saturday on busi ness concerning the Red Cross drive which opens March 1st. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hurlbut and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Parsell called at the Ervin Albert home Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. John Terryberry called at the Floyd Gauer home Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Schroe der and family spent Sunday at the T. A. Tennant home. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Stoehr called at the Herb Schlueter home Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. John Tyo of Kansas City, Missouri were home for the week end. Thv stooped at Peru and brought Reg. Sneak and Miss Marv Han lev with them for a week end visit. A verv good crowd attended the Rassle Monday evening and a return engagement was set for Mar. 12. This time 2 girls will put on a show. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Stohl man of Manley are the parents of a 7-lb. son born Wednesday at the Clarkson hospital.
