Carlberg Sunday eve ning. February 25. honoring their 38th wedding anniversary. Everyone brought baskets loaded" with good things to eat. The evening was spent in play ing pinochle. Dinner Honors Mr. And Mrs. Bernard Jackson Sunday Eve Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Jack son w-Te honored at dinner Sun day evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Beryle Schanholtz. He is being called to active duty March 10, and has received or ders to report to Spokane, Washington. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Urish of Council Bluffs. Ia.. Mr. and Mrs. Don Warga. Carl Hula. Cecil Karr. Glendora Langan of Omaha, and Leonard Weiland, also of Oma ha. Carl Hula was in charge of the Entertainment. Neighbors Surprise Gilbert Fornoffs At House Warming A house warming surprise party was given last Friday night for Mr. and Mrs. uuoeri Fornoff who have recently moved to a farm close to Weep ing Water. It was given by their former neighbors and relatives. It was also the birthday of Gil bert's mother. Mrs. Kenry Forn off. The evening was spent by nlavinir cards and visiting. At a late hour a delicious lunch was served, also home made ice cream and cake. They all de parted wishing the Fornoffs the best of luck and happiness in their new home. Propp re turned Wednesday after spend ing two months in Florida. Ex cept for the spell of "freezing" weather which hit the sunshine state, they report a very inter esting vacation. i Mr. and Mrs. Art Pearsley of near Union were in Plattsmouth Friday to visit friends. Rhoden - Meisinfier Nuptials Solemnized Miss Donna Lee, Rhoden daughter of Mrs. Blanche and the late Kelley J. Rhoden of this city, was married to Lyle V. Mei singer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed gar F. Meisinger. also of Platts mouth, Saturday evening at 6 o'clock at the First Christian church in this city. The chancel was decorated with seven branch candelabra and baskets of snapdragons, jonquils, iris, and acacia. The family pews were marked with bows of white satin ribbon. Rev. Harold V. Mitchell offi ciated at the candlelight,, dou ble ring ceremony in the pres ence of a large congregation of relatives and friends. Miss Marilou Warner sang "Because." "Through the Years" and "The Wedding Prayer." Chester Harvey Johnson of Mul len, Nebr., cousin of the groom, was organist. Billy Senf. nephew of the bride, carried the rings on a Ten Attend Meeting Of The Factory ville Extension Group Ten members of the Factory ville Extension met at the home of Mrs. Horace Griffin Wednes day. Febr. 21. The meeting was brought to order by Mrs. Arden Reuhman. Mrs. John Hansen led the group in singing the following: "The More We Get Together." "God Bless America." "Down In the Valley." Roll call was answered by each member giving information of George Washington. Donations were sent to the Penny for Friendship fund. Annual dues of 15c per mem ber for county and state home i extension council and achieve ment dues were paid. The lesson was on selection of sheets and pillow cases and how to remove stains. Leaders were Mrs. Ted Brannon and Mrs. Horace Griffin. Plans for a square dance were made. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Ted Brannon March 21. James Rebal Notes 87th Birthday James Rebal celebrated his 87th birthday anniversary at a family dinner at the home of his eranddaushter. Mrs. Clark Finney Friday. February 23. IOn Afovrl T Auxiliary Meeting At Union Tuesday UNION (Special) The American Legion Auxiliary met at the home of Mrs. Mary Goble man on Tuesday, Feb. 20th. President called meeting to or der. Twenty members were present. Reports were given. Gwen Scoles was appointed to have charge of the high school party which will be given in the near future. The treasurer re ported that $12.83 had been sent to the department tor ine Lit tle Red School House Fund." President appointed the follow ing chairmen for the luncheon which will be given in April: Vera Ackley, kitchen: Marion Clark, dining room: Jane Rod dy, program; and Jessie Upton, publicity. Nina Upton gave a report on legislation and Violet Attebery gave a report on Americanism. Mary Gobleman and Violet Attebery gave a splendid report on the high lights of the conference they had attended at Grand Island. Hospital assignment has been received by the Auxiliary. Dur ing the afternoon the ladies tore and sewed carpet rags. At a late hour the hostesses. Grace Everett. Betty . Hoback, Eva Becker and Ann Gobleman served lovely refreshments. The Legion and Auxiliary family night will be held on March 14th at 6:30 p. m. at the Legion hall. Patty Todd Hostess To Merry Maidens The Cullom Merry Maidens held their monthly meeting on Sunday, February 18. at the home of Patty Todd. During the meeting the girls gave two demonstrations. They also judged their dish towels, which revealed improve- mcnts in tneir sewing, bniney Hild and Beverly Sprieck dem - onstrated making a dish towel. DeVonne Kaffenberger and Nola Jane Weiss demonstrated dish washing. For the next meeting the girls are to have a set of pillowcases or a blanket protector made. They are to make some cream ent Kinds. Circles of St. Paul's Church Have Meetings Tuesday Circles of the St. Paul Evan gelical and Reformed church met Tuesday, February 20, for their regular February meet ings. Circle I met at the home of Mrs. Lorinne Urish with Mrs. Rilla Gapen and Mrs. Ethel Stoehr as associate hostesses. The chairman. Mrs. Fred Luesch. called the meeting to order. The devotions were given , by Mrs. Otto Pitz. her topic I being "Man's Response. At the close of the business session games were played and prizes awarded to the winners Refreshments were served to the 17 members and 5 visitors who were present. The Washington motif was used in refreshments. Circle II met at the home of Mrs. Joe J. Stibal with Mrs. Louis Naive and Mrs. Ford Heim as associate hostess. They have three boys, Elmer and Rob ert, living in California, and John of Plattsmouth; also two daughters, Mrs. Clyde Graves and Mrs. Guy Heil of Califor- nia, ana Mrs. wunam Hall re- siaing in Lincoln. Near, in hon or of the event Mrs. Hall sent a beautifully decorated anni versary cake to the parents. They celebrated their anni versary at a family dinner Sun day. At dinner Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Hall and daugh ter, Joan, of Lincoln. Ed Child ress of Lincoln, and Mr. and Mrs. John Rummell. Many beautiful cards and gifts were received by the couple. Mr. an'l Mrs. Herbert Kauk of Sutton spent a few hours Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Furse. nounced. The devotions were given by Mrs. Philip Meisinger. The meeting closed with all re peating the Lord's Prayer. The Washington motif was carried out in the decorations and refreshments. There were 18 members and three visitors present. Circle III met at the home of Mrs. Emma Egenberger with Mrs. Wm. Schmidtmann, Sr., and Mrs. Pauline Hill as associ ate hostesses.
