Mrs. Florence McDonald. Correspondent Mr. and Mrs. William Zabel spent last week in Omaha at the home of their son and family. Conrad Baumgartner was able to come home from the hospital on Wednesday. Ed Guehlstorf f . who under went a major operation was able to come home from the hospital the day before election. The Ladies Aid met at the home of Mrs. Gus Streich last Thursday with a very good at- . tendance. Assisting hostesses ' were Mrs. Vernon Schewe. Mrs. Harold Wilkens. Mrs. Kirk Finne- gan, and Mrs. Frank Echery. Mrs. Martha Hoover of Elm wood spent Sunday afternoon with friends in Murdock. '.RACE PLVBCN. Correspondent Merle Hess who has been em ployed here for a time, while he stayed in the home of his uncle George Moomey, has returned to his home in Denver. Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Bird and family have moved to Wichita, Kansas where Mr. Bird has been employed for some time. They made many friends while here. In the home which they vacated the new occupants will be Mr. and Mrs. Stolz and four children. The wife is the former Florence Rumelin. Mr. Stolz will work for the Bornemeier Transfer Co. " Victor Hollenbeck came here from'Alvo on Sunday and took his mother Mrs. May Hollenbeck to South Omaha where she will visit for a while." She stayed for a month with her sister Mrs. Lewis Hollenbeck., . The Claude Hewitt family are staying here with Mrs. Hewitt's mother Mrs. Nettie Mendenhall until they go to a new location. They are moving from their home near Springfield, Missouri. On Thursday evening the young adult's church school class held their meeting at the Methodist-cirarch. He commend ed the farmers who raise stock and who also helo with the com munity and church work and help in conserving the best val ues in life. Later a business and social meeting was enjoyed by the class members and the pas tor, Miss Ward. Also on Thursday evening at 7:30 at the school house the Band Mothers served a chicken dinner for the members of the Lions club. This was in appre ciation of the nice donation this group had given for the band costumes. Nineteen of the Lions were present. Mayfield entered the Methodist hospital Monday and on Tuesday submitted to an op eration for hernia. The Red Cross is planning on bringing its Bloodmobile to Lou isville sometime the first part of January. Mr. and Mrs. Basil Tade from Centerville, Iowa were week end guests at the R. G. Speak home. Mrs. Tade is Mr. Speak's sister. W. L. Blair lost the end of one of his fingers Sunday when he got it caught in a fan belt, out at Sumner. Teacher and pupils of school district No. 41 gave a program Thursday evening, November 16. Neil Lancaster who taught in Louisville last year is the teacher. Bill Ingram and Paul Erhart came up from Fort Riley, Kan sas Saturday and spent the week end with relatibes. Mrs. Anna Gauer who has been in poor health for some time was taken to the Clarkson hospital in Omaha by ambu lance Tuesday. She has been at the home of her son Floyd. Huffman Mrs. Harvey Blair has been staying at the home of her par ents. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Pear son in Manley recovering from an attack of pneumonia. Word has been received here that Joe Masnica will be married in California Sunday, November 26. Joe has been living there the past two years. Mr. and Mrs. James McKinstry, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Herring ton and Mrs. Earl Hrabik attend ed the ice follies in Omaha Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Don McClmtock and son of Plattsmouth and Jackie Terryberry spent last week end visiting relatives at North Platte and Venango. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Searles of Sioux Falls, South Dakota are the parents of a daughter born November 12. Mrs. Searles was formerly Halene Van Overbeck of Louisville. Alvin Huff was taken to Lincoln Monday bv his brother and wife Mr. and Mrs. Fred Huff where he entered the Veterans hospital for a checkup. Nile Donnelson, Clarence Nes sen, Ernest Hennings and Morris Miller left just after midnight Sunday and drove to Callaway for pheasant hunting. They got their limit of birds and also vis ited at the Charles Ossenkop home. Wm. R. McGregor, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. McGregor is now handling the day side of the Rock Island work at the station. The Juniors of the Louisville high school will give their play next Monday nad Tuesday. The title is, "They Gave Him A Co-Ed." Sunday, November 12 was the birthday of Mose Barr, most of his children came to help him celebrate. The wedding of Francis Neu man of Louisville and Miss Don na Dageman of Papillion was performed at the Trinity Luth eran church in Papillion Sunday November 12. They will live in Papillion. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Group were supper guests at the Merle Group home in Louisville Sunday evening. re- Navy Now Accepts New Enlistments According to the Navy cruiter who is at the Platts moutJh post office each Monday afternoon, the Navy Recruiting Station at Fort Omaha announ ces that the Navy is now accept ing applications for enlistment in unlimited numbers. LCDR J. W. Reed, officer-in-charge said that the Navy's training cen ters were quickly flooded with trainees after commencement of the Korean affair and it became impossible to accept all those qualified for enlistment. The Navy training centers have now been expanded sufficiently to train all those recruited there by permitting enlistments in the Navy on an unlimited basis. A young man may now expect to leave as soon as the enlist ment process is completed. It was stated that the qual ifications for enlistment remain unchanged and that the ruling which has prohibited the en listment of anyone in the Navy who has been called for his pre induction physical still stands.
