The high school has 43, the grammar room, Miss Niday teacher, has 21, tne intermediate, Miss Mercer has 25, the second primary, Mrs. Hans ford has 28 and Miss Schmer has 30 in the primary room. Miss Stone, music instructor is kept busy with group lessons and private pupils. Mrs. Ida Harley is spending a couple of weeks visiting her daughter, Mrs. Verna Rippe and familv at Tekamah. Alva Reid has returned from the hospital and is feeling much better. . Mr. and Mrs. Stake of Liberty, Nebraska, are the parents of a daughter born Sunday, Septem ber 12. On Thursday they celebrat ed by being entertained by rela tives in Lincoln, remaining until Friday. The county republican chair man, Steve Davis of Plattsmouth, visited Willard Clapp here on Thursday and together they look ed over the county voting record books. Mr. Clapp attended the state Republican convention at Omaha the week before, as dele gate. The county Sunday School con vention is scheduled to meet at the Elmwood Christian church on Friday, October 1. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Fleischman returned recently from their va cation to the northwest and Canada. The first meeting of the Elm wood Woman's club was held on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Guy Clements. Invited guests included the teachers of the school, and the wives of school board members. The mu sical program consisted of two vocal selections by Marianna Parish, and a duet by Joan Bach emeyer and Ramona Jones, with Marlene Edenmiller accompanist and and three piano numbers by Mrs. Dwight Clements. Myrtle Wood was elected delegate to the district convention at Lin coln and Mrs. Parsell to county convention ""at Alvo with Mrs. Lannin alternate. Mrs. Carl. Mu eller became a new member. Cass County Extension Notes Fall Plowing: of Gardens Urged If your garden is through pro ducing this year, plow it. That's the advice of County Extension Agent Clarence Schmadeke. He suggests an application of barn yard manure to plow under. But first of all, Schmadeke suggests that all the refuse old plants be cleaned from the plot and burned. This, he says, will get rid of insects and diseases harbored by the dead plants.
