Mrs. Anna Lobcrg, age 87, passed away at her home Wednes day morning. She had bzen ill for several years. Frank Gadway went to Piatts mouth Wednesday evening to spend the rest of the week en joying the Kern Karnival. Henry Armbrust returned last week from Minnesota where he had been visiting relatives. Gerald Ault and Art Hild left Monday for Wymoing on a hunt ing trip. They expect to be gone about one week. Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Duerr and family returned early last week from Selby, S. D., where they attended the funeral of Mrs. Duerr's mother. Mrs. Henry Stulken formerally Anna Hubert, who passed away following a heart attack. Mrs. Stulken for merly lived near Louisville and had many friends here. The Nichols Store installed a new' vegetable case Sunday. Chris McGrew arrived home on Saturday on a furlough from the U. S. Marines. He has spent 2 years in Guam. Miss Gertrude Zastera and Miss Ann Inman returned last week from a vacation at Two Harbors, Minn., where they visited with Gertrude's sister find husband, Mrs. Harold Koop. Miss Shirley Hermanson re ceived a letter and check for $4.00 from the County Superintendent. In the spelling contest held in August, Shirley tied with Miss Barbara Smith. So she also won the prize. Dick Livingston was in Omaha on business Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Habel spent Saturday in Lincoln on business and shopping. Herman Gakemeier of Murdock was in Louisville on business Saturday afternoon. Rev. Homer Dickerson, of Ne braska City was in Louisville a short time Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Don McClintock and baby of Piattsmouth were in Louisville visiting Mrs. Mc Clintock's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Terryberry. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Mayfield and Miss Charlotte went to Lincoln Thursday to attend the State fair. Ed Snider of Springfield was in town Tuesday making arrange ments to have a tooth pulled. Mrs. Fred Heil and Marvine and Mrs. Fred Gaebcl and Lucille, were shooping in Omaha recently. James Heard and Marilyn Koop were selected as Pages for the King Korn Karnival from the Louisville school. The Golden Circle club held its annual picnic in the city park Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Mayfield I celebrated their 37th wedding j anniversary on Tuesday, Sept. 14th at their farm home. All the j children of the family and j neighbors, and relatives, took i their supper along and surprised them. Mr. and Mrs. Elwcod Pankonin returned Saturday evening from Hempstead, Long Island, where they spent their vacation with Elwood's brother and family. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Amelang and Mrs. Edward Roe. of Omaha, left Sunday for Louisville, Ky., for a week's vacation. Mr. end Mrs. Pete Marcoe were hosts Monday of last week at a dinner !or David Marcoe tiid family, all of Omaha. Also Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lambert, Mr. and Mrs. Don Crowe, of Lincoln and Bert Marcoe, of Meadow Grove. The occasion was Pete Marcoe's birthday. Mrs. Paul Phelps, of Ralston, is doing some newspaper work in addition to her duties in the Gar den club. She and another lady are writing a column "Thru the Garden Gate" for the Ralston Recorder. The Edgar Pankonin building has been undergoing a house cleaning on the outside. Ed Gess has been giving the building a new coat of paint. Mrs. Cy Hirsch and Bruce and Mrs. Rollie Noyes were Omaha visitors last Saturday. Mrs. Jesse Sell and son. Dave and Mrs. Wm. Fred and Charles Masters re turned home last week from At chison, Kansas, after a few days visit with their brother, Alfred and wife. Alfred has been in poor health for some time. Frank Ross received word that his daughter. Mrs. Joe Williams, was sailing Friday of last week for Japan, where she will join her husband. Mrs. Frank Carnicle of South Eend was in Louisville, Monday, visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh O'Brien. Mrs. Nolan Hickman, of Lin coln, spent a few days in Louis ville, visiting at the Claude Twiss home. Mr. and Mrs. Oris Schliefert and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schliefert were in Omaha, Tues day, on a shopping tour. Miss Charlotte Mayfield ar rived homa.JVVednesday from Chi cago to spend a couple of weeks with her parents. Mr. and Mrs." J. R. Mayfield. Mrs. Melvin Gerdes is employ ed in the office of the Blair Cin- J struction Co., at Cedar Creek. Miss Gertrude Brammer, of Indianapolis, Indiana, arrived on Wednesday of last week for a couple of weeks visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Bram mer. Mrs. James Ingram visited friends in Springfield. Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Heim and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schmader atr tended the state fair in Lincoln last Thursday. Mrs. Don Weimrr and Mrs. Melvin Reed gave a surprise par ty on Don Weimer, Thursday evening at the Melvin Reed home. H. E. Brown, of Scottsbluff, spent several days here the past week at the home of Dr. and Mrs. E. H. Worthman. He is a bro ther of Mrs. Stevenson and an uncle of Mrs. Worthman. Mr. Brown used to have a drug store in Louisville back in the years between 1894 and 1905. JbnwDX).d Art. Grac. Pljbon Miss Betty Clements is attend ing Medical school in Omaha. Mrs. Ella Boyles is now living with her sister, Miss Anna Mc Fall. Mrs. O. E. Liston spent several days recently in the home of her son James and family in Ever green, Colorado. Mr. and Mrs. George Bates and daughter Opal May attended the funeral services of his ne phew, Teddy Kruger, at Nebras ka City recently, who was killed in the auto accident near Uru dilla. He was a senior in Nebras ka City school. Around one hundred relatives attended the services. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Miller, Cheryl and Darylee are enjoying a trip to the west coast this month. Union Evangelistic services are being held this week at the Evangelical U. B. church, the four churches of this denomina tion in this part of the county participating. Dr. W. C. Lasatar of Boulder, Colorado being the speaker. The W. C. T. U. September meeting was held last Friday with Mrs. John Wood. After the lesson a covered dioh luncheon was enjoyed, ! Mrs. Rhea Apt Roach began work Monday as clerk at Mc Gce's in Lincofn. She is spend ing some months here while her husband is on navy duty. They arriv ed on Monday morning. The-Eveland sisters enjoyed a reunion on Sunday at the home of Mrs. Blanche Kuehn. Others were Mrs. Linda Gustin, Mrs. Joe Lang of Newton, Iowa, Mrs. Gertie Schwinn of Sand Point, Idaho and Mrs. Myra Bockelman of Lewiston. Rev. Paul Scott of Lincoln preached at the Methodist church on Sunday. It is expected that he and his wife and baby son will occupy the parsonage here. The piano pupils of Marlene Edenmiller gave a recital on Sun day, September 12, at the home of their teacher. Mrs. Harry Lannin and Mrs. Orval Gerbeling- are to serve on the welfare committee from the W.S.C.S., and from the Women's club, Mis. Earl Horton and Mrs. Ray Parsell. Union Mrs. L-G. Todd Mr. and Mrs. Frmond Moore spent last Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Snodgrass then on Sunday they visited rel atives in Weeping Water. Mr. Moore has recently returned from a Naval Reserve cruise. Jane Sheard is recovering nice ly from being hospitalized re cently, with a surgery on one of her legs. Dwyer Todd of Bassett, Neb., is visiting relatives in Murray and Union the past few days. He brought his wife, by ambulance from their home. She is a pa tient in the Methodist hospital in Omaha and is awaiting an op eration. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Kniss and son Robert of California, have been visiting friends and rela tives in Murray. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. Ray Frans on Tuesday. Mrs. Frans accompanied her guests to Min neapolis, where they will visit Mr. and Mrs. Will Brown. They expect to return to Nebraska next Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Attebery and son Marvin, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Dysart and Mrs. Todd at tended the Korn Karnival Koro nation at Piattsmouth last Wed nesday evening. Virginia Atte bery, daughter of the Attebery'S, was one of the countesses. Her escort was Wendell Burbee of Union. Some of the friends of Dorq- thy Dunn and Nancy Anthony? have received letters from these? young ladies recently. Miss Dunn is teaching in the " Brunswick schools and likes her work very much. Nancy Anthony is attend ing Wayne College and is a sen ior this year. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Todd at tended the State Live Stock Feeder's association which held their convention at Fremont last Thursday. Vivian Meisinger attended the Koronaticn at Piattsmouth last Wednesday evening. Her parents met her in Piattsmouth and brcusht her home that evening in order that she would be able to continue her work in the Un ion schools. Rev. and Mrs. B. N. Kunkel was pastor of the Meth odist church in Union several 1 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Roddy were taken to St. Mary's hospital last Friday. Mr. Roddy has been very ill for some time and Mrs. Rod dy' suffered a broken knee in a fall recently. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Todd, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schanot and Mrs. Todd visited Mrs. Dwyer Todd, of . Bassett, at the Metho dist hospital last 'Sunday after noon. Mrs. Todd underwent a major operation last Friday, and is still in. a serious condition. Mrs. Jesse Fitch suffered a sprained ankle one day last week from a bad fall.
