Ne braska is visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Eisele this week. Mrs. Robert Stock and son were Lincoln shoppers on Friday. Mis's Joyce Stock who is em ployed in Lincoln accompanied them home for the week end. Mrs. Martha Thimgan of Platts mouth and Mrs. Mary Williams of Elmwood are visiting friends and relatives in Murdock this week. The eleven boys that attended camp at Fremont this week re turned home on Saturday. Mrs. Elsa Hornbeck entertained the Eastern Star Kennsington on Thurs'day afternoon with a very good attendance. Mrs. Edith Braun of Alvo was co-hostess. Mr. Emmett Friend of Alvo visited his daughter and husband on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Buck are the ; proud parents of a son born early ; Friday morning. I Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Boyd and daughter s'oent last week end at I Beatrice visiting relatives for a i week cr ten days. The body was bought back here for burial. Funeral ser vices' were on Monday at the Trinity Lutheran' Church. Mr. and Mrs. William Rikli and Mr. and Mrs. Kolland Rikli and daughter visited at the Frank Rosenow home on Thursday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Boyd and daughter attended the farewell fnr thp Mpthodist minister at Elmwood on Wednesday, evening. Mr. Willard Wilkens has the basement dug for his new house this week. Dinner guests Tuesday evening- at the Glen Kuhn home were Miss Betty Denny and Jery Barrett of Lincoln. Gene Ewing of Ashland. The i ner was in honor of - bally s birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Campbell spent Sunday at Lincoln visit ing Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Rovlyer. -Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Dill spent Friday evening at the L, Par rish home. L. R. Ward of Ashland was Friday dinner guests at the Glen Kuhn home. Mr. and Mrs. L. Parrish and family spent Sunday evening visiting the Harvey Mumm fam ily at Yutan. "Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Haswell called Sunday aftcrnopn at the J. L. Carnicle home. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Carnicle vis ited Mrs. Carnicles' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Odin at Watson, Mo., Sunday. Lois Feather of Wavcrly was a week end guest at Glen Kuhn's home. Mrs. Olga Campbell, Mrs. Cora Campbell, attended the shower for Miss Mary Skok at Weeping Water Sunday. Chris Thiessen is' spending -a few days at the Glen Thiessen home. Supper and dinner guests Sun day at the Glen Thiessen home were Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Bar ney and Barbara of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lackey and son, Mr. and Mrs. Wynne Thiessen and family, Mr. and Mrs". Pleas Proctor, and Pauline of Ash land. Mr. and Mrs. Loran Vogel and Terry of Logan, la., visited Mr. and Mrs. George Vog;-l Sunday afternoon. Sharon Phillips spent two days j visiting her grandparents, Mr. ; and Mrs. Phillips at Eagle, then (, went to Syracuse for a few days i visit with her aunt, Mrs. Opal Davis. Mrs. Ellen Douglas Pitts left Wednesday for her home in Co lumbia, South Carolina. On Wednesday evening Mrs. Arlo Pratt drove to York, accom panied by Mrs. Reber, Mrs. Eve land, Mrs. Chester Irons and Mrs. Herbert Oehlerking. At 7:30 Mrs. Reber gave a book review of "Gentleman's Agreement" by Laura Hobson. The occasion was the state meeting of the Home Demonstration (jouncil of Ex tension clubs. On Wednesday, Mrs. Ruth Man ning went to Clarinda, Iowa, w ith relatives from Sterling, to at tend the military funeral of a cousin of the late Mr. Manning. The body had been returned from India for interment. Miss Wanda Buell is now em ployed as bookkeeper for the Bornemeir Transfer Co. On Wednesday evening a large crowd assembled at the Metho dist church for a farewell party for Rev. and Mrs. C. H. Lind. Nolan Hottle was program chair man. A number of hymns were sung With Mrs. Opal Clements leading and Eugene Pratt at the piano. After prayer by Rev. Lind, Eugene gave a piano solo. Marian Pratt gave a reading. Frances Arnold sang "Perfect ' Day" and Mrs. Dora Engleking played a saxaphone solo. In the talks and expressions of regard, Fred Buell represented the church, Mrs. C. A. Brown, the Sunday School. LeRoy Cook, Mr. Lind's class, Richard Pratt the Youth Fellowship and Mrs. El don Mendenhall the W. S. C. S. Ice cream, cake, cookies, and cof fee were served. Many people expressed regret that the Linds are leaving after eight years of. service here, but well wishes for their new work was also given. On Tuesday, June8, at 4 p. m. the wedding ceremony of Miss . tT x - A" T": . . ' Marjory norsiman, oi nivunun, Wyoming, and Dwight Clements of Elmwcod, was performed .at the First Presbyterian church in Lincoln, Dr. C. Vin White of ficiating. About 200 guests were present. The groom's sister, Bet ty Clements, was one of three bridesmaids. Ushers were Or ville Julian, Dr. Howard Listen, and Robert Aldrich, of Omaha. The bride graduated in music at the University of Nebraska in 1946, and in 1948 she received her master of music degree. Mr. Clements has degrees in science of business administration, and in law, the latter received in 1947. After a trip to Colorado the coup'e will be at home in Elm wood, where the groom is cash ier 'of the bank and also working as an attorney. &m&vltk Mrs. Bessie Core, Journal Correspondent Mrs. Minnie Knutson visited in Omaha Friday, consulting an eye doctor about her eyes. Mrs. Vera Thurman and Mrs. Inez Donnelson were Omaha vis itors Friday. Bessie Core was in Omaha last Friday to have her eyes exam ined. Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Huffman and Mrs. E. A. Ingram attended the commencement exercises at the University of Nebraska last Monday. The Huffmans were luncheon guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. Coe Dalrymple. Eugene Ingram and Don Huffman were among the 1169 graduates. Mr. and Mrs. John Mass and Mr. and Mrs. John Billo attend ed the funeral of Mrs. Herman in Omaha on Monday. Mrs. Frank Herman, was Mrs. Billo's sister-in-law and Mrs. Mass' aunt. Mr and Mrs. Edward Stander have received word that they are now grandparents, a son be ing born to Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Stander at Louisville, Kentucky. Mrs. Carl Wirth -and Gleannis Wagoner shopped in Omaha lasfr Saturday. Mrs. Wirth returned to her home in Leigh, Saturday night and Carl continued his training at Fort Crook. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Von Seggern visited over the week end at the Henry Von Seggern home in Pender. Mrs. Clarence Sutton called at the Elmer Sprieck home Sunday. Mrs. John Ritter, Mrs. Ed Schrader, Mrs. O. R. Faust and Mrs. Tom Tennant attended the funeral of Mrs. Ray Alley at Ashland, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ingram have returned home after a visit with relatives at Arnold, Broken Bow, Merna, Grand Island and Lin coln. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Wirth, of Lincoln, drove down to Stouts ville, Mo., Wednesday of last week to spend a few days with Mrs. Addyman's mother, Mrs. Roy Addyman. Miss Dorothea Koop, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Koop, of Louisville, Nebr., was married Thursday. June 3 to Marshall F. Boker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed- 1 ward Boker, of Omaha, in the Methodist church at Louisville. Nicholas Lee Carter, 16, was killed Monday noon when the tractor he was driving turned over on him in the road at the Joe Deloske place across the river. Ray Harper, of Farnam, brother-in-law of Mrs. Forest Brun son, Mrs. Mabel Ingram and Jack Ward died Saturday in a hos pital in Omaha. He had entered the hospital for a checkup, but became worse and passed away Saturday. Funeral services were held at Farnam on Wednesday. Relatives from Louisville at tended the services. Ote.Ward, father of John Ward, Mrs. Ed Ingram and Mrs. Forest Brunson has been here the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Templemeyer re turned to Louisville on Friday evening. Mrs. Robert McShane and small son came last week for a visit at the J. T. McShane home. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Noell have returned from their wedding trip which took them to the Lake of the Ozarks. Mrs. J. B. Larson received a basket of fine oranges from a cousin in Florida last week. Mrs. Richard Dinsdale and lit tle son visited friends here last week, while Rev. Dinsdale was in Lincoln. Dr. W. R. Clark of Lincoln vis'ited recently with the George Dolan, A. Lundteigen and Ross Nichols families. Dr. Clark is a brother-in-law of Frank H. Nichols. Mr. and Mrs. Charls Knutson of Omaha, Mr. and Mr3. Gayle Fleischmann and family and Mr. and Mrs. Dave Linden and family of Lincoln visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Davis Sun day. Mrs. Clara Novak of Platts mouth attended the John Inman funeral here Thursday. Mrs. No vak, who returned from the northwest this spring is' now em ployed as a cook at the Masonic Home in Plattsmouth. Mrs. L. C. Isaac and Mrs. Max Welton wfre Omaha shoppers, last Monday. Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Mayfield of Omaha were here to spend j Memorial Day with relatives and friends and the P. E. The ministers and their wives of Murdock and Elmwood enter tained at the Methodist church on Tuesday evening honoring Rev. and Mrs. C. II. Lind, who are to leave for their new home at Oakland. After a short vis iting period refreshments were served, followed by a short pro gram of music and talks. A fine coffee maker was presented to the honored couple. Later in the evening some of the ministers and wives proceeded to the home of Rev. and Mrs. J. L. Jochens, where Mrs. Jochens entertained a few friends in honor of Mrs. Jochen's birthday.
