Haith as manager of the Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph Com pany at Sterling has been an nounced by Clyde Burgc, dis trict manager. Mr. Haith will have charge of plant mainte nance in Sterling and Adams, and in addition will be respon sible for certain commercial phases of the company's opera tions. Mr. Haith went to Sterling after serving with the company for the past six years at Seward as an installer and trouble man. Prior to 1941 he had worked with the company's construction de partment since 1929 in various localities, serving as a lineman. While at Seward Mr. Haith also became familiar with the opera tion of dial switching equip( ment and his knowledge in this respect will be particularly use ful in keeping the two offices under his supervision in first class working order, after con versions to dial service which are scheduled within the next few weeks. Mr. Haith is past master of Oliver Lodge No. 38, A.F. & A. M., at Seward and is a member of the Frank H. Woods Chapter of the Independent Telephone Pioneer Association. At the pres ent time he is attempting to lo cate a house in Sterling, and when he is successful he will be joined by his wife and three sons, Donald, 13; Paul, 9; and Lowell, 2. Mr. Haith was born in Cass County and spent his younger years in this communit3 and in his young manhood was em ployed by the Lincoln Telephone company, being located at Plattsmouth for a time. Carp Yield Profit To State Funds Rough fish may be a drug on the market as far as the man with the rod and reel is con cerned, but carp, buffalo and shad more than pay for the cost of removing them from compe tition with game fish in Nebras ka's lakes and reservoirs. During 1947 the Game Com mission's salvage and distribu tion crew sold more than 77 tons of rough fish to realize a net profit of over S3, 000 over cost of seining and selling fish. Carp and buffalo in good condi tion sold for from ten to fifteen cents per pound, while small carp and shad sold for 30 to 50 cents per hundred ' pounds. State Faces Short Yield in Minnows A shortage cf minnows, which became acute last year, is ex pected to occur again this year in many parts of the state.
