V'jrtey The Danish Ladies Aid Soci ety and their families enjoyed a basket dinner together at the Odd Fellows hall, Sunday, wTith the hall decorated with a Christ mas tree, and a bountiful dinner, after which the afternoon was spent in visiting. Mr. and Mrs. Mogens John son and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith Sr. spent Christmas Day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith Jr. at Avoca. Chrstmas Day visitors at the Lee Stratton heme were their two sons and families, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Stratton and son, Jimmy, and Mr. and Mrs. Eu gene Stratton and their daugh ter, Pamela, all of Omaha. Af ternoon visitors were Mrs. Robt. Homan and baby, of Louisville, and Mrs. Flovd Penner and baby. A letter from Mrs. Charlotte Hungate Dodderidge, of Law rence, Kansas, says that she is confined to her bed for the past six weeks with a strained heart. It also gave the news that her husband, Kenneth, is now with the University of Kansas, being in change of adult education, with offices in Topeka. Mr. and Mrs. George Hoff meister had as Christmas Day guests, Mrs. Hoffmeister's mo ther, Mrs. Annq Earls, Sam Ba ker and Richard Frans, of Un ion. Mrs. Robert Ewart, of Wahoo, and son, of Osceola, were call ing on old friends here Monday. Mrs. Ewart reports that her daughter, Flora Katharine, is now assistant librarian at the Kansas State University. Sterling Amick was badly burned on Christmas Day when he lighted the gas heater at the American Legion building. He w; taken to the Veterans hos pital in Lincoln. Clyde Fitzpatrick and his daughter, Miss Eilene were din ner guests Christmas Day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. Hugh Hanlan, after which all four went to Omaha and attended the Orpheum theatre that after noon. In the evening they at tended the IceCycles. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Root en tertained at a Christmas dinner, when their guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Green, of Spingfield, and Mr. an Mrs. John Mead. Late in the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Root and family went to Louisville to spend the evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Jardine. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Michel- sen and daughter, Jerry, left Thursday evening for Pittsburg, Pa., to srjend two weeks at the home cf Mrs. Michelsen's par ents. W. F.
