Wiies in Mynard. was the scene of a happy -family gathering featuring- a turkey dinner. Their guests included Mr. and Mrs. Chester Wiles, Janice and Alan. Mr. and Mrs. 'Thomas Grosshans, Jimmy and Marjoric. A 'telephone conversation to their- daughter, Delores, was an added enjoyment at the Christ mas -season, they having called the Fred Trilety home in Cincin nati and talked with Mrs. Trilety and Nancy. Loan & Finance lot Guests Here at Heme of Mrs. Heidi Mrs. Henry J.Heldt has had as as her guest, for a time, at her heme in this city, a distinguished figure in the religious field in this country and in mission field of the Evangelical church in this country and in China. This was Sister lima Alio, a deaconess from Htlsing'fors. Finland, where she took nurse training .also attending mission college, going to China in 1927 as a mission ry, serving for nine years. She came to the United States in 194G before going to the China field. She has just completed a tour of lectures in Minnesota and Michigan on religion raid on her experiences in the China field of work. She is planning a tour east again this year to tour through out the entire Suomi synod "of the Finnish Evangelical church of this country. She is planning also to go to college in California to work for her degiee before returning to the mission field. Sister Mina Carlson of the Tmir.anuoi deaconess school at Omaha joined Sister lima Aho and Mrs. Heldt here over the week end, Mrs. Heldt taking them back to Omaha Sunday evening. Now Priced at $169.50 Young People Married Here Monday Afternoon The marriage of Miss Frances Solomon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Solomon and Mr. Merlin J. Jochimsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Jochimsen, of Vail, Iowa, was celebrated Mon day afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Presbyterian church. The church was attractively arranged with decorations of asters and large candelabra making a very pretty setting for the event. Mrs. Verna Goes, organist, played the pre-nuptial music and the "Bridal Chorus" from "Lohcngren" as the wedding march. Mrs. Goos also played the recessional, Mendelsohn wedding march. Frank A. Cloidt sang preced ing the service, '"I Love You Truly"' with Mrs. Goos as the accompanist. The marriage lines were read by ,Oh. G. McClusky, pastor of church, with a large group ,cf toe relatives and close friends attending 1he service. Tjhe bride wore as her wedding gin a two piece gray shark skin suit. with black ac cessories. She wore a bouquet of red roses and gardenias. The bridesmaid was Miss Edith Solomon, sister of the bride, who wore a two piece gabardine suit of gray, with Beaver picture hat, wearing- a corsage of white car nations. Her accessories were black. The groom was attended by his brother. Ralph Jochimsen, of Denison, Iowa. Both of the men wore dark business suits. Following the services, a re ception was held in the Fellow ship room of the church, where refreshments of ice cream, cake and coffee was served. The serv ing was carried out by Mrs. H. G. McClusky, Airs. Raymond Lar son. Mrs. W. F. Kraeger, Mrs. H. A. Jacobs and Mrs. Herman Tie kotter. There were some thirty five attending the reception. The young people will enjoy a short honeymoon and then re turn to this city, where they are planning on making their fu ture home. The bride is a graduate of the clasof 1942 of the Plattsmouth High School and since gradua tion has been engaged here where her father is in the op eration of a grocery store, with the exception of one year spent in Washington, D. C. where she was engaged in secretarial work. The groom spent three years in the U. S. Navy during the war and at the present time is with A. B. Rogers in this city. Calendar Friday, January 2 The meeting of the Friendly Family unit cf the Cass County Farm Bureau will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Thomason. The meeting of Navy Mothers scheduled for Friday, January 2nd, has been postponed. An nouncement later of next meeting- date. .Monday, January 5 Plattsmouth Woman's Club will meet on Monday evening. Kiser James Addison Kiser was born August 15, 1863 at Daven port, Iowa and passed away at the homeof his son, R. Guy Ri ser near Piattsmouth, Nebraska, Dec. 23, 1947 aged 84 years, three months and eight days. He came with his parents to Plattsmouth in 1375 being 12 years old. Here they settled on a farm seven miles southwest of that city. On Januarv 6, Death of Cyril Janda Jr. at Omaha The death of Cyril Janda. Jr., 48 former resident of Platts mouth. and a member of one of the old families of the commun ity .occurred suddenly Tuesday evening at Omaha. Mr. Janda had not been feel ing well for the past few days and Monday neon had gone to his home to recuperate. Tuesday he was still ill and Tuesday night he suffered a hemorrhage of the lungs and was rushed to a hospital but was in a dying condition when he reached there. Mr. Janda was born in this city, the youngest of the mem bers cf the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Janda. Sr., grow ing uu in this community where he received his education. In 1917 he enlisted in the naval forces of the United States and served in World War I. Those from a distance who at tended the golden anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. S. Y. Smith, were three daughters, Miss Lela Smith of Washington, D. C. Mrs. Lois M. Hern of Laurel, Maryland and Mr. and Mrs. John Bond and family of Osage Beach, Mo. Other relatives were Mr. and Mrs. Horton Beam, Mrs. Kate Beam, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Beam and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Beam and family and Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Holliman, all of Riverton, Iowa; Mrs. Vera Davis and son. Robert, and his lady friend, all of Shenandoah, Iowa; Mrs. Clarence Davis and Diane of Arriba, Colorado and Mr. and Mrs. Rav Ballard, Joan and Dick of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado; Adso Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Davi son and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Fox and Mrs. Biggs and Mr. and Mrs. Ike Stcwder and Linda of Oma ha; Mr. and P.Irs. George Mc Kean of Syracuse, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Donald McKean and son and Mr. and Mrs. George Leahy and son of Tecumseh, Nebraska; Mrs. Bette Wustrack, and Bobbie of Lincom, grand daughter and great grandson. To this union were born four children: one son, R. Guy Kiser of Plattsmouth; three daughters: Mrs. Mabel V. Hardin of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Mrs. Edna Ackerman and Miss Delia Kiser of Lake Worth, Florida. He united with the United j Brethren Church at Cotton 1 school house when Rev. Carter was evangelist. He was then about 30 years old. His father, mother, three brothers and two sisters preced ed him in death. His wife passed away in August, 1944. Surviving are his four child ren and four grandchildren: No ble A. Kiser of Fort Worth, Tex.; Robert G. Kiser of Plattsmouth; Mrs. Beulah Kiser . Harper of Omaha, Nebr.; and Jimmie Har din of West Palm Beach, Florida and three great grandchildren. He made his home with Guy Kiser and wife for the past 37 years. Throughout his failing health cf the last five years he was patient and tried not to be a burden to those that cared for him. and then located at Omaha where he has made his home for the past fifteen years. Since locating in Omaha Mr. Janda has been engaged in the contracting business and was very successful in this line of activity. He was active in the West Q street business men's organiza tion and a leader in the work of j the improvement of that portion ; of Omaha. ; There is surviving, the widow, Ann, four daughters, Patty, Car- ; oline, Bcrnadine and Veronica, j all living at home; two brothers, j Charles C. and Thomas, of Oma- j ha; three sisters. Mrs. Hen- : ry Brinkman and Mrs. Vincent ; Slatinsky, both of Sedalia, Mo. ; The body is at the Larkin fun- j eral home at Omaha to await the funeral services, which will j be Saturday morning at 9 o'clock ! from St. Mary's church ha. Burial will be at Mary's cemetery. Obituary Eugene Spencer, 66, passed away Thursday, Dec. 25, at St. Mary's hospital after suffering a stroke a week before. He was born at Randolph, Iowa. Dec. 12, 1831. Married Louise Marquardt on June 5, 1906. He was a teacher in the Avoca schools and later taught in the schools at Auburn and Hartley. He had spent 36 years as manager of the Farmers State Bank at Talmadge and retired j two years ago. He is survived bv his wife, Louise, two sons, Bernard, of Nebraska City, and Ralph, of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchild ren, Shirley Ann. Joan and Jane Spencer, of Nebraska City; Diek and Elizabeth Spencer, of St. Louis; one brother, Ralph, of Red Oak, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Romberg, of Oma ha, and Mrs. Ed Rose, of Red Oak, Iowa. Funeral services were held ;at 'the Methodist church in Tal madge and graveside services ; at ' the Wyucka cemetery in Ne braska City. Services in charge ; of Tonsing and Pearson of Syr ! acuse.
