Armstrong ar rived home Thursday night for a two weeks leave with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan E. Arm strong. Miss Anna Mangold of Teka mah and Lester Nelson of Craig were Saturday supper and eve ning guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan E. Armstrong and Iva Louise, Miss Mangold was a roommate of Iva Louiss at Peru State Teachers College, this is their first meeting in about four years. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan E. Arm strong, Iva Louise, Linden De Freece and Bonnie Lee Dean spent Monday evening at the C. B. Dean home at Memphis. Mr. and Mrs. John Abbott and Doris and Mrs. Olive Whit latch spent Monday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Boiler. Wiuhdodt Mis. Florence McDonald Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stock were Lincoln shoppers cn Tues day. Verle Stock underwent an op eration for appendicitis on Mon day evening. Mr. Fred Hess suffered a stroke a week ago Monday, but is some improved at this time. Mr. Charles Kupke has gcen en the sick list the past week, but is a little better at this time. Those attending the Mills Thanksgiving dinner last Sunday were, the Walker family of Seward, the Rudolph family of Eagle, LoRoy Phclan and wife of Lincoln, Mrs. Emily Gonzales and Mrs. Ruth Monning of Elm wood, Miss Hallie Altic of Oma ha, Mr. Joe Dicknicer of Huron, S. D., Mr. Otto Heinrich of Pleasant Dale, Nebraska and Miss Jessie Reeve of Iowa City, Iowa. Miss Reeve remained for a longer visit at the Mills home. On Sunday Merle McDonald entertained five boy friends for dinner in honor of his 14th birthday. The High School basketball team went to Peru, Nebraska to enter a tournament and won their game with Sacred Heart on Tuesday afternoon. They also won their game with Verdon, Nebraska on Thursday night. Mrs. Edwin McHugh received word late Wednesday that her sister's husband passed away very, .suddenly, so she left Lin coln Wednesday evening by plane to be with her sister who lives at Seattle, Washirv;t.,n. The Ladies Aid met at the home of Mrs. Fred Reickman on Thursday with an all day lunch eon t noon. A good atU ndance was had m spue ut the cold weather. Kemp Gorthey left Wednesday morning for his home in GIo versville, N. Y. after having vis ited at the home ot his uncle, L. B. Gorthey and other rela tives in Nebraska. A Butll reunion was held at the Minnie Rosenkcetter home in Elmwood, Nebraska ' n Sun day, December 7th. in honor of Kemp Gorthey of Gloversville, N. Y. There were 25 present. Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Gorthey, Kemp and Rusj Goithey were supper guests at the Kenneth Bornemeier home in Lincoln Sat urday evening. The Magorian family were guests there also. Mr." and Mrs. L. B. She is much improved. Dr. and Mrs. W. J. Snyder were Sunday evening supper guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Andy Lundteigen. Kenneth Proctor was brought homo from the hospital in Oma ha Thursday. He is much im proved. Mrs. Glenn Eager receiveel wend Friday of the death of her aunt. Mrs. A. H. Thacker of Terra Haute. Indiana. who passed away Thanksgiving Day. This was the last of Mrs. Eager's relatives on her mother's side. Mrs. Eager's brother, Rasper Warren and wife of Coder Creek attended the funeral. M-s. Lloyd Larson and Janice spent Sunday afternoon in Elm wood, where they visite'd Mrs. Larson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Long. Mr. Leng had re cently returned from the hospit al, and is convalescing at home. The Senior Girl Scouts picked up newspapers Saturday. Ncal and family in California and her son, Noble and family in Texas. Obituary Earl John Durbin, 53. passed away on December 9, lf)47 a'. the home of his sister, Mrs. Fred Lake. He was born at Ehv.wood. June 2, 13o9, and was an invalid all of his life, never Ix ir.ir able to walk. All of his lifetime was spent in this vicinity, with the exception of the years he spent with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Durbin, near Imperial, Nebr. After the death of his par ents, he came here twelve years to live with his siter, who nobly cared for ki:v. di years. Mrs. James McKinstrey of Meadow left Friday evening via the Rock Island for Belleville, Kansas to spend some time on vacation and for a rest. Her grandson.
