There was a large attendance of the members of servicemen groups, and services at the grave were in charge of the Hugh J. Kearns post of the American Legion of this city. The pallbearers were selected frcm the young servicemen that had been friends of the departed during his lifetime, they being: Elmore Brink, Kenneth Wohl farth, Walter Bryant, Robert Mrasek, Albert Richards, Rich ard Rea. The color bearers at the serv ice were Richard Novak and John Urish, while the color guards were Charles Grosshans and Robert Slavicek. The finng squad was composed of Howard Hirz, commander, Charles Walden, Richard Black, Robert Reed. Leonard Brothers. The ritualistic services of the American Legion was held at the grave by Commander Richard Peck and Lloyd Behrends, chap lain of the post. As the last rites were cele brated, Thomas Y. Troop sang the hymn, ' Saved by Grace." With the firing of the last salute to the fallen hero the body was laid to the last rest m his native soil, as taps were blown by Eugene Lingford. The escort of. the body from Kansas City was Sergeant Robert Holt. Obituary WTilliam Lee Cloidt. son of August W. and Pearl Cloidt. was born June 19, 1923, at Platts mouth. He spent his your.g years in this city and was graduated from the Plattsmouth high school in the class of 1942. Shortly af ter his graduation he removed to California in July 1942 and continued to make that stale his home. In October 1942 he was mar ried to Lavina Troop at Oak land, California, the culmination of a school day romance, both of the young- people being mem bers of the class of 1942. Mr. Cloidt continued his work on the coast until July 7, 1944 when he was called into th? armed services and sent into training and toward the close of 1944 he was sent east for em barking for the European thea tre of action, sailing from Ne5. York between Christmas "and New Years. He was sent into the; front lines shortly alter reach ing the American center in the German campaign. He was kill, ed in action near Scheiden, Ger many on March 5, 1945. There is surviving this young veteran, the widow. Mrs. Laving Cloidt of Richmond. California ; the father, A. W. Cloidt of this city; two sisters. Mrs. Robert H. Fitch of Holdrege.
