Greene Wallpaper Co. has rented the Parriott Ga rage room for space needed in addition to their own two story building, for the large stock of wallpaper they now have on hand for their wholesale trade needs. On Thursday evening, Nov. 20, a largv number of people, sev eral towns being represented, assembled at the Masonic Hall for 'their Father and Son ban quet. Henry Wendt was in charge of arrangements, and il'm. Atchison was toastmaster. Rev. Thomas Barton of Lincoln was main speaker, and H. H. Kendall, also of Lincoln, was entertainment manager. He gave several Scotch selections in . costume. Supt. Whittemore show ed moving pictures. Thanksgiving Community ser ivces were held on Sunday night at the Evangelical United Breth ren church with Rev. Val John ' son as the preacher. Assisting m ; the services were Rev. Lind and : Rev. Haitt with Mrs. Walter Oeh lerking as pianist. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lind of Lincoln spent Sunday with their brother, Rev. C. H. Lind and . Mrs. Lind. Mrs. Lind. mother of the men, is making an extended visit at the parsonage at this i Jjfone. She is spending- the winter in the homes of her sons and daughters each in turn. Word was received by Miss Anna McFall of the marriage in California of two former Elm wood residents. On Nove-mber 8, Mn. Fern Greenslate Fletcher of Riverside became the bride of Joe Westfall. Th?y will make their home in Santa Monica, Calif. On Thursday evening of last week Victory and Service rib bons were presented by Sgt. Greene to veterans of World War II. at the G.A.R. Hall. A movie and refreshments made the oc casion a pleasant and memorable one. Mr. and Mrs. Wally Cates and daughter, Blanch, have been vis iting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. Kuehn. He visited his rela tives in Maine part of his fur lough time. He is soon to be sta tioned at San Diego, Calif. Mrs. Verna Hcier Mr. and Carl Kress and fam ily have rented an apartment at the hotel. Mr. Kress will work for Ernest Emshoff. Mrs. Laura Stovall and George and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Stovall visited at the Wilbur Stovall and family Riverton, Iowa re cently. Mrs Wil-iam Fromneck, Sioux City, I9W&, called her brother, George Durham, informing- him of her marriage to Mr. Fromneck a week ago. They will go to California for a trip but will make their home at Sioux City. Mrs. Fromneck is the former Agnes Durham. Mrs. Genevieve Zimmerer is visiting relatives at Nebraska City. Henry Sudman was unfortu nate to fall and break his leg at his home Monday. This is the second time it has been broken. He was taken to St. Elizabeth hospital, Lincoln. Mrs. William Kepler is a mediqal . patient at a Lincoln hospital. The November Birthday Club went to Syracuse Saturday, No vember 22 for their annual par ty at the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Glaubitz. At the business meet ing the officers were elected for another year. Mrs. Dena Ruge, president; Mrs. Anna Marie Behrens, vice- president; Mrs. Hattie Dettrrer, treasurer; Meta Mueller, secretary. As this was guest day several new friends attended and became members. They are Miss Mildred Griffin and Mrs. Frances Pfieffer of Syracuse and Mrs. Estes Heeb ner of Avoca. After several games, delicious refreshments were served including a birthday cake. All sang Happy Birthday to Mrs. Myrtle Wolph, as her birthday was nearest the day. Then everybody sang ag-ain to the oldest member, Mrs. Kristina Sailing, who celebrated her 81st birthday, Nov. 7.
