I V Mrs. Bessie Core Mrs. Noel Gull has returned home from an Omaha hospital, where she had been taking treatments. Her condition is much improved. t Mr. and Mrs. Brunston Hagan and son, Larry, and some friends all of Omaha, visilec at the Bes sie Core home Sunday, Oct. 26th. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mocken haupt of Manley are the parents of daughter, Mary Katherine. ; born on Sunday, Oct. 12 at St. Mary's hospital in Nebraska City. II. Mrs. David Alfrey of Lincoln was one of the brides maids and Mx. Alfrey was an usher. Mr. and Mrs. Fischer will live in Kansas City. Bud Blair, Harold Williams and Ernest Read were among those who went out after pheas ants on the day the season open ed. They went out to the Chas. Ingram farm near Sumner and found plenty of birds. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Thomas left last Wednesday for Des Moines, Iowa. Then to Harcourt via Boone on the electric Inter urban. From Harcourt they vis ited at Fort Dodge, from where they left for Yankton, South Dakota. They also visited Mr. Thomas' son, Oscar, at Fremont. A deal was completed last week whereby Gilbert Luken became the owner of the Law rence Twiss place on Highway 50 across ..from the Free Methodist parsonage. A. R. Jim who is able to get around the hospital in a wheel chair, visited Henry Ragoss, also confined in the same hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Woolhiser are the parents of a seven pound girl born at the Nebraska City hospital Monday. Oct. 28. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Knutson and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ingram of Ashland attended the games at Richfield last Sunday. Mrs. Dora Heil, formerly a resident of Louisville, but now making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Pat Brown in Grand Island, celebrated her SI birthday on last Wednesday. Rev. and Mrs. Melvin Jl .Mey er arrived home last week from a two weeks trip spent with Mrs. Meyer's parents at St. Louis and Mr. Meyer's parents at Garden City, Kansas. Mrs. John Rauth was an Om aha visitor Friday of last week. Miss Dorothea Koop came from Lincoln to spend last week end with her parents. Glenn Pickrel and Frank Klea ger spent last Saturday hunting pheasant near Shelby, Nebr. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wirth and baby of Leigh, Nebr. spent the weekend here. o Olin Webb came from Lincoln to spend the week end with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Webb. John and Lee Jochim and Paul Camau spent Sunday hunt ing in Saline County. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Patterson spent Sunday of last week at the home of their son, Ralph Patter son and wife in Lincoln. Carnicle was a Lin coln shopper last Thursday. Perry Kuhn and Glen Durand of Klamath Falls, Oregon have returned home after spending a week at the Glen Kuhn home. Mr. and Mrs. Loran Vogel and baby visited Sunday morning at the Phillip Flamig home in Man ley. Tyler Kunn is receiving treat ment at the University Hospital. His condition remains about the same. His daughter, Mrs. John nie Fipps of Tulsa, Okla. is here. Mrs. Stanley McFarland re turned home last Tuesday from University hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Beaman of Ceresco called on Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Streight last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Copsey and Dick were Sunday dinner guests at the J. D. Fidler home. Glen Kuhn spent Thursday and Friday of last week at Al bion visiting friends and rela tives. Friday supper guests at the J. C. Streight home were Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Fidler, Elaine and El inor and Miss Ruth Newsham. The supper was in honor of Jer ry's 17th birthday. Invited guests at the Thor wald Hansen home near Weep ing Water last Sunday were Mrs. Wm. Hoover and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Heir and son Billie, Mr. and Mrs. Emerald Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tosberg and Cecil and Miss Mary Skok. Other visitors were Mr. end Mrs. Herman Rauth. Lt. and Mrs. Edward Kearns and children returned to their home in Mobile, Ala. Sunday after spending two weeks visit ing at the Carl Horfmiester home. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Knecht, Mrs. Jess Fidler and Mrs. Thim gan. Mrs. McFarland is getting along as well as can be expected. The Wednesday afternoon pi nochle club met with Mrs. Cora Campbell Wednesday. Prizes wee won by Mrs. George Vogel first, Mrs. Oscar Dill second, Mrs. Glen Kuhn, low. Traveling was won by Miss Anna Lau. A lovely lunch was served at one o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Wynne Thiessen and children were Sunday visi tors at the "Glen Thiessen home. Mrs. William Elum spent Mon day in Plattsmouth. Mr. and Mrs. V. D. Livers en tertained at dinner Sunday in honor of their Silver wedding anniversary. Their guests were Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Livers and children, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Livers and Mrs. Jenny Livers from Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Ly man Hendrickson of Council Bluffs. Mr. and Mrs. Loran Vogel and Terry Lee visited at Schuyler, Nebraska Sunday. Mr, and Mrs. William Elum visited at the V. D. Livers' home Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Cordes and Shirley spent Sunday eve ning at the George Voglers. Herbert Blum spent the week end visiting his sister, Helen Blum of Charter Oak, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Cordefc spent Sunday at the Fred Cordes home. Lois Feather of Waverly was Friday supper guests at the Glen Kuhn home. Those re ceiving the rite being Stephen William Nicklas. son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Nicklas, and Claire Elaine Julian, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Julian. Elmwood School now has 132 pupils in all departments. The band directed by Miss Feme Pearson has 25 members, the Girl's Glee club 26, and Boy's Glee club 13. Mrs. Etta Skeen returned home a week ago from a visit with her son. Carl and family, at Hastings. Dr. Howard Liston and Ted Hall were each able to shopt a deer on their recent bunting trip in Colorado. Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Ostertag of St. Louis were last week end visitors with his mother, Mrs. Bertha Ostertag. On Sunday evening the Wo man's Society of World Service of the Evangelical United Breth ren Church gave their annual program. The auditorium was decorated with sixteen bouquets. After the opening devotions, lead by Mrs. E. F. The closing number was the beautiful solo "Tfcie Stranger of Galilee" rendered by Mrs. T. H. Green. A ' good offering was received from the audience representing- four Evangelical Uni ted Brethren churches .in this county, Misses Mabel Broderick and Marie Welch were Saturday guests of Miss Elsie Kunz.
