I can't tell you why, but I can tell you how you got rooked in this "deal. In 1944, our military was get ting ready to invade Europe. So that our soldiqrs would have money printed in language and denominations understandable in Germany, an artificial money called Allied Military Currency was printed in Washington. The idea was that our soldiers would use it in Germany iust as a tour ist in France used French francs. Later G. I.'s could turn in this currency to the army paymaster for genuine American dollars. An amount of this artificial currency sufficient to supply our army was printed. Then a strange thing happened. The engraving plates and equipment used to print this synthetic money was turned over to the Russians. Moreover, if I heard aripht in a Senate hearing recently. Wash ington was even more generous. Thf Russians were given sub- home states of the offending par ties . Total fines, costs, and liquida ted damages resulting from game law violations during June amounted to $353.00. Apparently it pays to practice conservation, if only through the observance of game laws. Nebraska wild game is going to have a place 1o live during the next few years if the Nebraska Game Commission can do any thing about it. A 32-county area, practically one-fourth of the to tal area of the state, will see an intensified program ot upland game habitat restoration nhich will put Nebraska far out in front of any state in the country in this type of work. The region to be developed ex tends to the east and south, roughly, from a line drawn from E 1 w o o d to Fairbury, t hence northeast to the western boun dary of Knox county. Then they payrolled their troops in Germany with this American originated currency. Also they instructed their troops to spend this currency in Germany. This currency, being similiar to our military currency, was readily accepted by our G. T's who sot fabulous amounts of it for small goods. The G. I. in Iturn redeemed this Russian-prin-Itcd but American-blessed cur rency for real American dollars. At this point, friend, you "hold the sack." You are charged up with the dollars of national ex pense used to redeem this Rus sian printing press currency. How much has this deal cost you? If the army can keep it secret, you will never know. A safe estimate from recent questioning of army brass is that this Russian hand out has cost American taxpayers i several hundred millions of dol ' lars since V-E Day. mhtiws C?I flfn 'h m m iir..i..,kMatuviiujnirn ar.i - X I)(ir Pnn( I figured up my grocery bill Ust week and tpent much less than I had the week previous.
