PAGE FOUR WE JOURNAL, FLATTSMOUTH, NEBRASKA THURSDAY, SEPT. 27, 1945 John Wolf, former riatts mouth resident, was visiting here in town Wednesday, Mr. Wolf was a prominent business man in Flattsmouth until some time ago when he moved to Omaha. Mrs. Coleman O'Bryan called her son, James O'Bryan, long dis tance Wednesday at his base on Part is Island, S. C. James is a hos pital apprentice 2c and works in the Navy hospital on the island. He had been stationed at Parris Island since July. The O'Bryans are also ex pecting their oldest son, Cpl. Cole man O'Bryan, home at any time on leave. He writes that he ex pects to be home for Christmas as he has been overseas for 18 months. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Newton and son, Richard, are planning on leaving Saturday evening for Ak ron, Indiana. While there they will visit Mrs. Newton's sister. The Newtons will be gone for a week's vacation. Tom Walling returned home from Immanuel hospital in Oma ha Tuesday afternoon, after be ing there twelve days recovering from an operation on his should er. Mi'. Walling was injured last spring while working at the BKEX shops. Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Hop kins, Sr. received a letter from their son Benjamin, who has been a prisoner of war for the past three years. He says that he is well and on his way home. Benny was captured on Java and the story of his adventures were des cribed in the picture "The Story of Doctor Wassell." This is the first letter received from him in a long time. The last message was a radiogram in January and a postcard received four months a go, which was, written in October. His brother, Lowell is home on leave now after service overseas. S-Sgt. Marvin Hill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hill of Union, was in Plattsmouth Thursday. Sgt. Hill was discharged recently from the army after 10 months overseas serving with the G3rd division of the 7th army infantry. One of the Hill's other sons, Pfc. Albert Hill, is still in Germany with the oGth division. The Sattler ambulance made an emergency trip to the Meth odist hospital in Omaha Thursday when - Mrs. Harry Shif fer was taken seriously ill. Miss Anna Leach was visited last Sunday by a group of her former pupils from Omaha. They had heard of Miss Leach's illness and came over to visit her. Miss Leach has been ill for some time and is staying with Miss Alpha Peterson. Mrs. Charles II. King is visiting here in town called by the ill ness of her sister, Mrs. T. H. Poll ock. Mrs. King's home is in Los-Angeles. T5 George A. Hull of riatts mouth has been awarded the Bronze Star for valorous con duct in action against the enemy while fighting with the Third In fantry Division in France. His mother, Rose B. Hull lives at RI'D 1, riattsmouth. Mr. and Mrs. W. I). Phillips went to Omaha last Sunday to welcome home his brother, S Sgt. Duane Phillips of the fifth ranger battalion, who is home on leave after service in Germany. Mr. and Mrs. Claud Tickering entertained guests from Unadilla and Palmyra last Suulay. Those from Unadilla were Mr. and Mrs. Will Kruse and daughter, Gladys, who teaches school in Unadilla and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Seeman with their niece, Betty Stoner. From Palmyra came Mr. and Mrs. Holly Stoner and daughter, Wau-neta. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Picker ing are planning on selling their home in Arkansas and moving to the vicinity around Plattsmouth. While they ' are here they will stay with their son and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Claud Pickering until they are able to find a home of their own. Fauouet Wednes day and entered a plea of guilty to a charge of breaking and enter ing. Judge Jrauquet accepted the plea and ordered Therkildsen to appear before the District Court at the next session to answer the charge. Bail bond was set at $1000. Therkildsen admitted breaking in to the Brubacher Store in Mur ray on January 28, 1945.
