Miss Bessie Tucker of Calloway is spending her vacation from teach ing with her grandmother, Mrs. Jane Dill. Donald Warlick who is a student! Chester Shrader of Omaha and Miss The Martin Sporer; family; had as at Nehawka high school, is at home to spend his vacation. He was ac companied home by his grandmother who will visit for a few days with her daughter. Mrs. Warlick and family. Gary and Roger Hild were week end visitors with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hild. Little Marilyn Morris was spend ing the past week with her aunt, Mrs. Edward Wehrbein west of Platts mouth, while her mother was away from home. The Murray school closed Friday evening for a vacation lasting until Wednesday, Jan. 3rd, when they will resume their work. The teachers are spending their vacation with the folks at their homes. Pvt. Willard Nelson, who is sta tioned at Fairmont Air Base, arriv ed Saturday evening, accompanied by his wife, and will visit for a few days with the mother, Mrs. Selma Nelson and Eddie. Betty Wilson, a niece from Kansas City. Mrs. Isaac Wiles of Weeping Wa ter is making a visit of a few weeks with her son, Harold Wiles and family. The Christmas programs at the two churches were . enjoyed by the large audiences present. Th children did their parts very well and Old Santa Claus was also present to do his duty. Mrs. C. M. Read has so far re covered that she was released from the hospital and allowed to return home Sunday to recuperate. Mrs. Gene Gruber who has been hospitalized for a few days returned home Thursday. Her husband in learning of her illness was permit ted to come home to be with her, arriving by airplane early Friday morning. their guests Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ris er and Beulah, Mr. A. Jt Kiser and Mr. and Mrs. Noble Kiser and Rog er, and also Mr. Wm. : Sporer. ;' A large number of Christmas din ners were enjoyed in this commun ity by families and friends. Among those reported were the following: Mr. and Mrs. Marian Warthen had all of their children and their fam ilies except Imogene (Mrs. George Hobscheidt who lives in Iowa) with them for dinner on Christmas eve Mr. and Mrs. Will Rice are en joying a visit from their daughter, tiskitis and family 1 fornia for a visit of some duration. Mr.. and Mrs. E. S. Tutt were the guests of Mrs. Julius Pitz and fam ily for Christmas day. Mr. and Mr. Fred Hild spent Christmas eve at the Gus Hansen home with some twenty of other relatives, and Christmas day at the home of their son Henry and fam ily where -other of the relatives also were guests, numbering twenty-two. At the Hansen home the birthday of they all were calling on the R. A. Noell family. At the Charles Boedeker home were Mrs. Boedeker's parents, Rev. and Mrs. J. C. Stewart and Morgan Stewart of Stanwood, Iowa. Dick Johnson of Nehawka is a guest of his cousin, Eddie Nelson, this week. (Continued on Page 5, Col. V two of the guests were celebrated also. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Pitman of Omaha have returned to their home after a visit of several weeks here' with relatives. Miss Jane Boedeker arrived home from New York Thursday evening and will spend her holiday vacation here with her parents and . other relatives and friends. Henry Bond had the mismortune to have three fingers taken off when his hand was caught in the corn picker one day last week.
