The afternoon was spent in visiting, writing recipes for the biide, and in enjoying a musical number by Orlah Kutz and Jeanne Sand. Gifts were presented to the bride-to-be by the small tots present, Lois Wolph, Donna and Charles Howard. Refreshments of sherbert. cookies, candy and icfcd tea were served from a tea table center ed with a bouquet of pink roses and baby's breath. Mrs. Ruth Ann Thack er poured and Gertrude Olive. They will sperd the week with her sister, Mrs. Ralph Wehrbem and family at Plattsmouth. Rev. Murdoch is a chaplain at Camp Livingston, La. Sgt. and Mrs Arnold French and Joyce, Camp Hood, Texas, ar? with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Tyson, for a furlough. Death Of Aged Man Last evening Albert Neil Jones, 76, ivassed away at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Brady Wheeler, at Louisville, where he has been for a short time. Mr. Jones suffered a stroke three weeks ego and has sin?e been gradually failing. The deceased was a native of Kansas, where he was born at Marys vine. Seotembcr 1867, but for many vears iived north of Omaha, near Fort. Calhoun, and some time ago moved to this city where he re sided with his son, Lawrence, ' on the farm some seven miles west cf the city. He was married on December 2, IS ft 3 to Esielle Barthalomew, who pi ( coded him in death on August 5, 1914. There are surviving: Three sons and four daughters, Mrs. Brady Wheeler of Louisville; Lawrence and Raymond B. Jones, both o Plattsmouth: George W. Jones, Chi cago: Mis Alberta M. Jones, Chi cago: Mrs. Henrv Zurcher, Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs. Richard Reikofskl Foster, Nebraska. Mrs. Frank Mailer and Edna Marie entertained the Otterbein Aid society Thursday afternoon. Mrs Fred Meisinger entertained the Neighborhood club Wednesday after noon. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Scott (Thelma Dill) are the proud parents cf a son, Phillip Dale, at Burbank, Calif. This is the first grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dill. Mrs. Dill has gone to see the new heir and v,i!l be gone a month or mere. Richard Powell, nephew of Mrs Miller Christensen. came from Long Tioach via train last week, lie will remain on the farm the remainder of the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Ri?hard Maynard pi Pan Francisco, Calif., are with her mother. Mrs. Jane Dill, for a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Dan McLe?ry of Alma, Nebraska wore house guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Mrs. Frank Hogue and Roland spent Friday afternoon with Mrs. John Ketelhut, and a Wednesday guest for the day was Margaret O' Brien of Louisville, a former pupil of Mrs. Kelelhut's. ial beside the wife. Shows Marked Gain Reports from the Clarkson hospital stat that Mrs. H. A. Schneider, who was gravely ill for several days, has taken a marked change for the better. The improvement of the patient has been much more reassuring to the family. Fred D. Harschenberger, book keeper for the Paul -Stock Imple ment Co.. for several years, and who recently was transferred to the Ash land office, was found by Mr. Stock Sunday night lying on the floor of the office dead, although .Mr. Stock had talked with him only a short time ln-fore wheH he said he was feeling fairly well. Mr. Harsehenberger had consulted a doctor Saturday evening but noth ing serious was indicated at that lime. The funeral was held in Dun bar Wednesday afternoon. Those attending were Paul Stock, H. A. Tool, W. O. Gillispie, H. E. Carson and Gus Wilkin. Two trains of colored troops pass ed through Murdock Sunday morning- August Ruge and son, Daniel, were in Ashland Wednesday look ing after business matters. Mr. and Mrs. H Addyman of Louisville are vacationing in Mur dock this week. Daniel Ruge and fiunily of Chicago came Saturday for a visit to his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Murdock, a mem ber of a road gang located at Pacific Junction, was rounded up by Chief of Police Parker and brought before County Judge Paul E. Fauquet, fac ing a charge ot intoxication, me court after hearing the facts in the case assessed a fine of $3 and cost County Commissioner G. W. Hart was here today from Louisville and was accompanied by James Stander, one of the long time residents of the cement city. Mr. Stander states that he has just recently returned from the west coast where he visited his brother at Orange, California, and several of the attractive cities in that part of the west. Mr. Stander found he traveling conditions very difficult and was forced to wait a long time at Reno, Nevada, for a connection for the east and was un able to secure hotel accomodations as the city wasrfilled to overflowing. The large number shown is only a part of the boys from here that are in service and is impres sive of the fact that so many are scattered over the world. The pictures cover ev?ry branch of the service and the idea of the special recognition of the service men, sponsored through the efforts of Mrs. James G.
