There is.no uncertainty about the merits of S. S. S. j every claim
made for it is backed up strongly by convincing
testimony of those who have been cured by it
and know of its virtues by experience.
Mr. L. J. Clark , of Orange CourthouseVa. , writes :
" For six years I had an obstinate , running ulcer on my
ankle , which at timrs caused me intense suffering. I was
so disabled for a long while that I was wholly unfit for
business. One of tha best doctors treated mo constantly ,
but did me no good. I then tried various blood remedies ,
without the least benefit. S. S. S was so highly recom
mended that I concluded to try it , and the effect was
wonderful. It seemed to get right at the seat of the
disease and force the poison out , and I was soon com
pletely cured. " Swift's Specific

The following marvelous and eming-

Connellsville ( Pa. ) Courier one of the
most dependable and the leading news
paper of the famous Coiuirllsville coke
region : "What seems impossible hap
pened one day last ueek on the South
west railroad. While a heav } ' freight
train of 90 cars was coming from Everson
to Watt two cars were swung around a
curve and jumped the track , going over
an embankment and alighting at the
edge of a trestle at Pennsville The cars
had the patent couplers and the balance
of the train went on without any inter
ruption except a severe jolt , the couplers
catching up and connecting the sections
of the train perfectly The two cars
were not known to be lost till the train
got to Watt , where the conductor noticed
the loss. Liter the cars were found at
Pennsville. "
The Burlington is using its dynamo
meter car on the main line in Eastern
Illinois and Western Iowa The purpose
is to determine several matters : What
the company's new engines can do how
many pounds ol coal a-e used per horse
power per hour and how many pounds
of water are evaporated per pounds of
coal used Tl e basis of comparison is
the relative economy of locomotives in
the pounds of coal per horse power per
hour. The car is ued to determine
speed , weight of train and character of
road with respect to road-bed and grades.
It has been deteimined that with trains
up to and including ten cars , the class
"H" engine with " 68" drivers is the
most economical , but that with trains
over ten cars in size , a class "H" with
" 62" drivers is more serviceable. This
car can dett-rmine the extravagant or
economical use of steam as well. In
