Francis , General Passenger Agent , Omaha. Nebraska. RAILROAD NEWS ITEMS. It. E. Cann was a visitor to Denver , Monday. Adolph Mangless and wife visited In- dianola friends over Sunday. Mrs. T. A. Erb was down from Akron , Thursday , doing some shopping. Engineer and Mrs. Fred W. Bosworth were down from Denver , yesterday. L. S. Watson and bride went to house keeping in the cozy Lindsay house , Mon day. Auditor W. P. Foreman was at head quarters , Tuesday , on business of his de partment. E. Hansen has been laid up with a seriously ulcerated tooth. An attack ol blood poisoning was feared at one time , but he is now getting on all right. The Denver yard engine was taken out of the shops here , Thursday , and limbered up preparatory to returning hei to Denver. She has been overhauled here. C E. McManigal came down from Roggen , Colo. , Monday evening , on No. 6 , and is staying here a few days before leaving to take a position as night agent at one of the small stations down the road. The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Harris has been very seriously ill , this week , with an attack of pneumonia , and its life was despaired of for a while , It is better and its recovery is now looked for if nothing unexpected happens. • A decision of the district court foi Phelps county in the case of George Kel log , of Bertrand , against the B. & M. railroad , has been affirmed by the su preme court , giving Mr. Kellog a judg ment for $9,000 , which with interest will amount to $11,000. Mr. Kellog was in jured while acting in the capacity of sta tion agent at that place in 1892. Freight train No. 148 broke in twe near Cambridge , last Saturday morning and the sections came together just as the freight was heading into the side track at that station. The result was the derailing of some cars and othei minor damage , which delayed No. 1 foi about an hour. Conductor _ M. O. McClure - Clure was in charge of the train. No. 1 was an hour late in leaving here , last Saturday , but had made up the losl time when the train arrived at Corona. No. i's time is already very swift , and tc make up an hour in less than two hun dred miles is a mechanical feat of nc mean proportions , and is a monument tc the excellent condition of the motive power of this division , the nerve and skill of the engineer , the solidity of the road bed and the pride of the manage ment in having No. 1 in Denver on time. The Kimball pianos are high grade and reasonable in price. FLORIDA. A Superior Through Sleeping Car Line Between St. Louis and Jacksonville. Commencing December 26th the Louis ville Air Line has established the great Through Sleeping Car Route to Florida. Through sleeping cars arranged to leave St. Louis 9:15 p. m. dailj' , passing Louis ville 7 a. m. , Lexington 10:55 a- i.i reaching Chattanooga 5:55 : p. m. , Atlanta 10:40 p. ni. and Jacksonville 8:40 : a. m. ( second morning. ) Stop-overs allowed. This route is through large cities and in teresting country , and , while a new through sleeping car route , is over most superior and well-established lines oi railway. The schedules are fast and most convenient. The line also affords passengers for Florida trip via Asheville , N. C , the greatest American all-year-round resort. Board of county commissioners , met pursu ant to adjournment. Present , Stephen Holies , Jas. A. Robinson and Henry Crabtree , com missioners , II. W. Keyes , county attorneyand K. A. Green , county clerk. Minutes of last meeting read and approved. On motion C. A. Bede was appointed over seer of road district No. 1 , to fill vacancy. The following official bond was examined and on motion approved : John R. Harry , overseer road district No. 2. Annual settlement of the following over seers of highways examined and approved and clerk directed to issue certificates on road districts in payment thereof as follows : Geo. Fowler , overseer district No. 16 , certificate No. 105 , S13 57- John M. Ford , overseer Dist. No. 14 , certificate No. 106 , S15.74. It appearing to the board from the petition of Robert Stewart et al. and upon examina tion the board finds that the public good re quires it , on motion the following road is es tablished : Commencing at southwest corner of section twenty-six (26) ( ) , Town , two (2) ( ) , range twenty-eight (28) ( ) , running thence east on section line three (3) ( ) miles to the south west cornerof section twenty-nine (29)Town ( ) , two (2) ( ) , range twenty-seven (27) ( ) and termi nating thereat : the same is hereby declared a public road and clerk directed to notify over seers of highway to open said road and also notify owners of land along said road to file claims for damages caused by reason of the location of said road on or before noon of the 21st day of May , 1898 , or no further reference will be made thereto.
