When Jesus was born four facts
characterized the civilized world ,

among the Jews.
'rhe realization of this hopc in

path of mankind for two thous-I

celebration finds tite heart of
mankind made more cheerful by
the Son of l ightousness.
Appropriate cxercises were
held in the Christian church
Christmas eve. A hort program
consisting of sQngs of cheer and
recitations of glad tidings were
lendered a crowded house by the
children , for whom these exercis-
cs were expressly prepared.
The committee on arrangement
was successful in procuring a
large and beautiful tree. It was
well decorated with c lored lights
and hea\'y burdenc < ' with cheerful -
ful gifts which gladened the.
hearts of both giver and reci-
pients.
'rhe event was made congenial
by kindred actions of both you tit

express their wisdom today as
much as when the Incarnation
was first proven a fundamental
'in both creed and character.
Santa"Clause happcned in at
just the right time but had found
: ; ome dry sledding. He was glad
to see that no chairs had been
made vacant during the last year
by that sad summons called
death. He succeeded in getting
us out of ourseh'es , and we were
want to sing :
"The poor will many a care forget ,
The deblor think 1I0l of his debtj
nut as they each enjoy their cheer.
Wish it was Christm s all thc year. "

A 'tstanding room only" crowd
greeted the Sunday Scho ! ; > l at the
1\1. E. church and a royal good
time was enjoyed by all.
Here the decorations consisted
of three pine and cedar trees
loaded to their utmost capacity
with presents beautiful and at-
tractive. Among the trees was
arranged a represntation of a
cradle with a haby , life size , upon -
on the hay. Over the place
where the baby lay a beautiful
transparancy symbolic of the Star
in the East with its ray : : , pointing
to the manger. A program of
song exercises and recitations cn-
titlcd " 'l'he Great Anointed"
was rendercd by the school in a
highly pleasing manner , rencct-
ing great credit upon those who
had in charge this part of the
entertainment. Special mention
should be made of a primar.r mo-
tion song and a solo by Master
Harry McCandless. 'l'he jolliest
happiest Santa interupted the
closing speech of the superintendent -
dent and amidst great merriment
and Christmas cheer the frees
were stripped of their presents ,

committees did their work most
faithfully and the result was that
everything proved vcry satisfac-

The Baptist School rendered a
cantata entitled.I'Mine Host
Santa Claus. " Several of the
acti ve voca tions in life wete produced -
duced in character songs , drills
and recitations with most pieas-
ing effect.
The sailors were represen ted
by a class of boys dressed in sailor -
or blue attire , whose presentation
in song- and motion was superqly
grand and most pleasing to thc
packed audience that the st nd- !
ing room was not sufIicient to I
accommodate.
The printers were represented
by a jolly crowd of boys with a
song rendered in a most pleasing ,
manner. Santa Clause' artists I
were composed of a large class of
boys and girls representing artistic -
tic genus that provides the toys
for Christmns time that was sung
with spirit. The little tots , the
doll dressers presented a pleasing
arra ) ' as they appeared on the
stage armed with the subject of
their song. 'l'he hearty good
will with which they sang and
interposed the gestures was one
of the highly appreciated faaturcs
of the entertainment. 'l'he candle -
dle malers was presented by a
large class of girls in song and
drill , with their burning candles
that presented a pleasing effect
and was especially brilliant as
their tapers :
"Winking , blinking , ourlights
YO\1 see shining out from the
Christmas tree. "
'l'he "Errand and Ele\'ator
bo's" was a character song presented -
sented by a class of boys that did
justice to the occasion. "
'rhe pop corn girls and the
pcanut girls were a jolly set as
they presented in song the
"Dainty 'rhings to Eat. "
'l'he noral committee song was
an appropriate closing prior to
the Hunting for Santa Clause by
the "I itl1e Tots" who brought
old Santa and Mrs. Santa out
of their hid1l1g , who were secretl ) .
observing all from behind a
screne located on one end of the
platform. Then all appeared on
the scene and \1uited in a grand
