J. G. Leming returned Saturday - day from J-4ead , South Dakato , to spend some time at home. He says that he has increased his mining property to 300 acres and tliat he has it ll proved and has received a clear title from the government. Mr. 1-4eming expresses - presses satisfaction over his mining prospects. J. R. Humphrey received a draft for S850.00 Sunday morning - ing from the order of the Tribe of Ben . Hur , ' through Ramal Ryerson as scribe , on the policy of his deceased wife , who was insured for that amount in that order , 'l'he draft was received 16 days after her death. Another - other cvidence of wisdom in carrying lif insurance. John Pernie of Merna , who was a friendly caller at this office reports that a number of cattle in that vicinity have died frol11 being turned in the stalk fields. He says that Jas. Lindley had lost 15 head , A. B. Chrisman 19 , Con. Fleshman 5 , J ac1c Roberts 11 , another man lost 22. Parties turning their cattle in the corn fields have lost none , but nearly every one' that had turned into the stalks after the corn was gathered had lost cattle. A number are turning their feeders into the corn fields and they are doing nicely. Several cattle that died have been examined and their stomaches are packed with the dry food.
