E. C... I stayed overseas two
years. I came home on a furlough
and had my wife go to my mother
in the east. I am out of service
now. Since returning I have found
out that my wife did everything
she could to make mother happy
while I was away. For some rea
son we aren’t a bit happy now.
My wife and mother fuss all the
time. If I do something for my
wife, mother pouts. If I do any
thing for mother, my wife pouts.
I am so upset I don’t know what
to do. We all three have to live in
the same room as it is impossible
to find a large place to stay out
here. I love them both very much.
Tell we what to do?
Ans: The mystery is that you
have been able to live together
this long, three in a room, with
out a royal battle. It is absurd to
try to continue such an arrange
ment. There is mutual love and
respect between your wife and
mother but the tension of jam
packing your living in one small
room is too nerve-wracking for
all concerned. Help your mother
to find a nice room to herself, for
she is not totally dependent upon
you. Once she is on her own again
relations between the three of you
will be restored to normal.
M. L...There is a young man
coming to see my daughter who
seems very nice and has asked her
to marry. She says she loves him
and he apparently loves her. My
girl is a nice girl, a high school
graduate and is smart as can be.
I don’t want her to make a mis
take. I don’t pnow very much

and brother and treats us swell,

brother and he treats us swell.

him?

they have had the opportunity to

daughter is only 18 and that is
quite young to be getting mar

young people and try to show
them that you want them to be

Handle the situation with tact
and diplomacy, as young people
strongly resent interference m
their love affairs.
J. B. J..I have been married 9
years and we have four children.
My husband doesn’t want to give
me anything but what we have to
have and when I ask him for some
thing, he says he hasn’t got it. I
am planning on leaving him and
going out for myself. Tell me what
to do right away.
Ans: Looking out for four
kids is a man size job, my good
woman. You may easily find your
self in dire circumstances if you
try to shoulder this entire respon
sibility alone. You are talking
strong language when you consi
der quitting. Money seems to be
the root of your troubles so why
not do something about bolstering
the family income. Many house
wives earn extra dollars in their
own home by taking orders for
toilet goods, sewing, and numer
ous other little tasks that people
are glad to pay for.
A. F. ..I am, or I think I am
madly in love with a married man.
I am in college and I can’t study
for thinking about him. Should I
continue my friendship with him?
Is there any future in this ? I
have never been in love before.
Ans: Nor are you in love now.
You are letting your imagination
run wild. Call a halt to this af
fair now before you get in trou
ble. The man in the case doesn’t
love you and he is making no
effort to encourage your attention
You can easily ruin your reputa

B. T. S. C. . I would be so happy
if you could help me. I am nine
teen years old, this is my second
year in college. I am in love with
a young man of twenty-three. He
says he loves me very much. Will
a certain thing that occured the
night before he left for camp
make him stop loving me even
though it was the first time?
He understands. He is still
deeply attached to you and has
no inhibitions about the event that
took place. You really gave him
a grand send off. It thrilled him
no end.

WORST STORM OF LAST
SEASON STRUCK JUST
BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS
The approach of the holiday
season recalled to Captain C. J.
Sanders of the state safety patrol
that it was just the day before
Christmas last year that the
worst storm of the winter struck,
tying up traffic all over the state.
Sanders urged that Nebraska
motorists be mindful of this when
they plan their holiday travel
ing, reminding them that the first
heavy snow has yet to arrive this
year and asking that they review
the driving practices which are
most successful in accomplishing
safe winter driving.
“When starting out”, Saunders
said, “get the ‘feel’ of the road
by trying your breaks while driv.
ing siowly and when no other
vehicles are near. On wet, snowy,
or icy surfaces, reduce speed.
Even when roads may appear to
be clear, remember that bridges or

patches.”
“Apply brakes lightly and inter
mittently when stopping,” he cau

and ice prevail to reduce braking
distance as much as 40 or 50% and
for ‘go’ traction to avoid stalling
and tying up traffic.”
In addition to inadequate trac

ter drivers, Captain Sanders sta
ted, advising drivers to see to it
that windshield wipers, defrosters
and headlights are in working or

“Don’t be the cause of one of
the fatal accidents which seem
inevitably to mar every holiday
season,” Sanders asked.
