Hfl. L. M — Please tell me if it
would be best for me to go back to
my boss and apologize and ask for
my job back? Sometimes I feel
like I am being imposed upon.
Ans: Yes, go back to her and
ask for your job- She likes you,
and has proven it a number of
times and you shouldn’t get mad
and pout about working an hour
overtime occasionally.z She pays
you well for your services and I
would advise you trying to hold
onto this job.

H. G- R.—My by friend has hab
its that I can’t get him to break
We are suppose to get married
real soon and do you suppose that
he is going to stop these habits or
not?
Ans: It’s not likely that he
will He’s been drinking constant
ly every since you met him and
gambles too. Under the circum
stances you would be taking quite
a chance to marry him. He also
likes to run around with girls and
you are too much of a lady to tie
yourself down to someone who will
only bring you sorrow.
*****
J. R—I am planning on taking
a trip and I wish to know if I can
depend on this person and will he
do the things he says he w-ill?
Ans: A vacation would do you
good, but I don’t think that it
would be advisable to depend on
this person to keep all the prom
ises he has made you. He isn’t
in a position financially to do all
that he says he will. Take the
trip, but buy a round trip ticket
so you will be sure of a way home.

Doubtful: Please tell me frank

think of me ? Does he think
{more of me or my sister? Must
I ask him to carry me to dances ?
Ans: Well he isn’t very excited
about you or your little “play sis
ter” either. He’s teasing you
girls. No, don’t ask him to take
you to dances. It isn’t considered
a girls place to ask the boys to
take her out. In a few years you
will have plenty of dates to go
dancing. You and your play sis
ter shouldn’t choose the same

WAITERS’
COLUMN
(by H. W. SMITH)
The Omaha Club with the quick
step crew is always on the up and
go, and continues out in front and
as Mr- Blackwell's on his vaca
tion the top man will be Mr. Jon
es and we are quite sure he M
get the very best cooperation. Ur.
Frank Buford is always on the
job as we all know he is up to the
minute on being on the job and
Mr. Dave Morrison can always
give first hjand information on
prize fights.
Mr. Underwood of the Fonten->
elle Hotel was out in front at the
Waiter’s party and our good friend
Mr. Reed wos so popular and his
time was taken up in so many
places it was impossible for this
writr to say hello to him and we
were well pleased to see him so
wed thought of. Alright, Mr.
Reed, continue to press forward
as we all like to see you go up.
We talked with Mr. Hill, and
Mr. George Lipton of the room
service ond both of them had the
usual business look on their faces
as we all knowr actions of that
kind bring good results.
Mr. Jones of the Bombay, and
Black Mirror Room is on his vac
tion visiting his mother in Okla
homa. We wonder if his thoughts
go back to the old motto, ‘What is
home without a mother.” Sweet
dreams to you, Mr. Jones.
Mr- John Evans looked as
though he doesn't pay any atten
tion to the hot weather. Alright,
Brother Johjn. we shall try to adopt
your ways of action and pleasant
ways.
We had a slight look at Colonel
Corbert the world’s renowned
head waiter of the Paxton hotel
last Sunday afternoon and as we
were late on ou schedule we could
not stop and we are asking Capt.
Booth or Mr. Pierson, or Mr. O
wens or Mr. Theodore Thomas or
Mr. Fisher of the room service to
say to Mr. Corbert, we would be
pleased to talk with him at some
future time.
Mr. Branch was the key man at
the waiter’s party and we all shall
think kindly of hAm for his very
pleasant way of serving the very
busy crowd those delicious sand
wiches and seeing that everyone
was taken care of and we take
pleasure in saying “hats off to
you” at all times.

Want Red Cross Nurses
FACED WITH SHORTAGE OF
NURSES IN OMAHA
Anticipating an enlarged enroll
ment for the Red Cross home nurs
ing classes as a result of the city
wide survey being made in the
preparadness coordination drive in
Omaha, Mrs. H. Malcolm Bald
ridge, chairman, has made an ur
gent appeal to registered nurses
who have married or for other rea
sons have given up nursing, to en
list as instructors. She points out
that the new requirements for in
structors demand that they be reg
istered nurses from an accredited
school with four years of high
school education or its equivalent.
They do not have to be previously
enrolled as Red Cross nurses, she
said
Mrs. J. A. McKamy, chairman of
enrolling nurses for instructor’s
refresher courses urges that wom
en who have been nurses apply to>
her for details concerning time and
place
“We are already faced with an
emergency in Omaha.” she as
serts, “with a shortage of nurses
acutely felt in hospitals here as a
result of the great numbers that
have been drafted into army and.
navy hospitals. In the event of
even a mild epidemic Omaha
would be ill-equipped to meet the
needs.”
She went on to show that the
training of housewives, mothers
and business women wbuld equip
them to care for patients in the
home with first aid, home sanita
tion, making of bandages and oth
er phases that would make it pos
sible for them to assist the nurse
in the home or more efficiently
follow the instructions of doctor
during the time of stress.
It is training that any woman
may find herself in need of on
many occasions, whether there be
a community or national emerg
ency or not,” she pointed out,” and
women all over the country are
awakening to their responsibilities
in this as well as other phases of
emergency defense. Consequent
ly we find ourselves with hund
reds of women clamoring for such
training and an alarming shortage
of registered nurses who are the
only ones adequately trained for
such instruction.”
28th at the Variety Club’s all-day
golf party, and Mr. Gabby Watson
was going many places and doing
many things and we are asking
him what school did he get his
knowledge from Mr. Berry can
mix highballs, get cigarettes, tell
the many kinds of pop, and open
up six cans of Budweiser beer at
the same time, and what we would
like to know was where he was ed
ucated to do so many acts at the
same time and keep a clear head
and we shall continue to pay very
close attention when we are a
round him.
1 — . ..11 " — v
Mr. James Richardson of the
Field Club will be in the Hall of
Fame or be more famous after the
golf tournament in August as
what he will have to contend with
will be a very small affair with
him. Mr. Johnnie Malloy is up
from Arkansas State College, and
is a major leaguer wh-n it is a
large crowd, and Mr- Harry Fraz
ier never gets excited and is tops
at arranging large parties and
acts as though 4-5 or 600 is a
small affair. Mr. Johnnie Flem
ings used very good judgement ia
selecting such a good crew for
the Country Club; Mr. Donoway,
Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Perry, and Mr.
James Griffin, Mr. Lambert is in
a class by himself in mixing
drinks.
Mr- Simon Harrold the noted
drummer head waiter and all
round good fellow is making good
at the Happy Hollow Club with
such men as Jack White, who is
up from the Sunflower State and
Mr. Chester Hodges, from the last
state admitted into the United
States, can shoot a 70 on the golf
course, and can serve any article
of food from a ham sandwich to a
flank steak and baked alaska ice
cream for dessert. They are 1
ways very good spokes in *'.e
wheel.
We would be very much" pleas
ed to see the streamlined head
waiter, Mr. Edgar Lee of the Ath
letic Club who is up from St. Joe,
and Kansas City, also Lincoln U
university at Jefferson City, Mo.,
Now, what else wouldn’t it take to
be a topnotcher.
