Alright, Mr. Reed, continue to press forward as we all like to see you go up. We talked with Mr. Hill, and Mr. George Lipton of the room service ond both of them had the usual business look on their faces as we all knowr actions of that kind bring good results. Mr. Jones of the Bombay, and Black Mirror Room is on his vac tion visiting his mother in Okla homa. We wonder if his thoughts go back to the old motto, ‘What is home without a mother.” Sweet dreams to you, Mr. Jones. Mr- John Evans looked as though he doesn't pay any atten tion to the hot weather. Alright, Brother Johjn. we shall try to adopt your ways of action and pleasant ways. We had a slight look at Colonel Corbert the world’s renowned head waiter of the Paxton hotel last Sunday afternoon and as we were late on ou schedule we could not stop and we are asking Capt. Booth or Mr. Pierson, or Mr. O wens or Mr. Theodore Thomas or Mr. Fisher of the room service to say to Mr. Corbert, we would be pleased to talk with him at some future time. Mr. Branch was the key man at the waiter’s party and we all shall think kindly of hAm for his very pleasant way of serving the very busy crowd those delicious sand wiches and seeing that everyone was taken care of and we take pleasure in saying “hats off to you” at all times. Malcolm Bald ridge, chairman, has made an ur gent appeal to registered nurses who have married or for other rea sons have given up nursing, to en list as instructors. She points out that the new requirements for in structors demand that they be reg istered nurses from an accredited school with four years of high school education or its equivalent. They do not have to be previously enrolled as Red Cross nurses, she said Mrs. J. A. McKamy, chairman of enrolling nurses for instructor’s refresher courses urges that wom en who have been nurses apply to> her for details concerning time and place “We are already faced with an emergency in Omaha.” she as serts, “with a shortage of nurses acutely felt in hospitals here as a result of the great numbers that have been drafted into army and. navy hospitals. In the event of even a mild epidemic Omaha would be ill-equipped to meet the needs.” She went on to show that the training of housewives, mothers and business women wbuld equip them to care for patients in the home with first aid, home sanita tion, making of bandages and oth er phases that would make it pos sible for them to assist the nurse in the home or more efficiently follow the instructions of doctor during the time of stress. It is training that any woman may find herself in need of on many occasions, whether there be a community or national emerg ency or not,” she pointed out,” and women all over the country are awakening to their responsibilities in this as well as other phases of emergency defense. Consequent ly we find ourselves with hund reds of women clamoring for such training and an alarming shortage of registered nurses who are the only ones adequately trained for such instruction.” 28th at the Variety Club’s all-day golf party, and Mr. Gabby Watson was going many places and doing many things and we are asking him what school did he get his knowledge from Mr. Berry can mix highballs, get cigarettes, tell the many kinds of pop, and open up six cans of Budweiser beer at the same time, and what we would like to know was where he was ed ucated to do so many acts at the same time and keep a clear head and we shall continue to pay very close attention when we are a round him. 1 — . ..11 " — v Mr. James Richardson of the Field Club will be in the Hall of Fame or be more famous after the golf tournament in August as what he will have to contend with will be a very small affair with him.
