The most burning fire is to question the signs of God, to dispute idly that which He hath revealed, to deny Him and carry one’s self proudly before Him. True Reliance is for the seivant to pursue his profession and call ing in this world, to hold fast un to the Ivord, to seek naught but Hir, grace, inasmuch as in His hands is the destiny of all his ser vants. The essence of all that We ha'o revealed for thee is Justice, i'i for man to free from idle fancy and imitation, <liso?rn with the eye of oneness His glorious handi work, and look into all things with a searching eye. Thus have We instructed thee, manifested unto the Lord, thy God. and glory there in amidst all people. -0O0——— IMPROVED COLLECTIONS PRE VENT INCREASE IN TAXES Readers of the Omaha Guide will agree with W. L. Pierpoint, presi dent of the Association of Oma ha Taxpayers, that improved tax collections in Omaha during 1939 and future years are preferable to continue increases in taxation. Property tax collections in Doug lass County during 1938 reached 91 per cent of the levy, due large ly to activities of Omaha’s civic tax campagin, according to the county’s treasurer's office. This is a three per cent gain over the average yearly collection of 88 per cent of levy. Proper action on the part of public officials and proper diligence on tho part of private citizens will mean, improved tax payments dur ing 1939 and the following years, M ■ Pierppoit told the Omaha Gi id ■ This situation would mean l.es- d linqueney and less reason for any increase intaxation. “Collection of 93 per cent of j taxes during 1939 and future years j would mean $460,000 more for1 Omaha’s schols, city and county government wdthout any increase in tax levy,’’ said Mr. Pierpoint, “as compared with an 88 per cent j average collection.” Omaha's property tax for 1939 totals $9,136,114, an average of $41 per person in the city. This repre sents a levy of $37.80 per thou sand, highest in several years, Mr. Fierpoint said -and probably re presents the maximum amount that can be levied under present condi tions without diminishing returns. Mr. Pierpoint declared that 1938 was a year in which tax conscious / ness was translated into tax in I telligence. For that reason, he said, I taxpayers in the future will give I scrutiny to any proposed increase _ in taxes. -oO o——— EXPRESSION OF TRI E LOTK PERPLEXES GIRL IN \A) >1 FOR FIRST TIME Dear Miss Watters: I read your advice on the “]«▼• mac! youth" a few weeks ago, al though the answer was very good I wondered whether these parties were real or just imaginary. Last week one of my girl friends told mi that you had helped her work out a very important problem. She suggested that 1 write you about mine. For the very first time, I have ?. boy friend whom I cannot afford to lose. The only proposition that we do not seem to agree on is how real love should be expressed be tween sweethearts. Now I would no anything in the world for this par son, only I do not want to do any thing which would make him thjflk • less of me. My fe«w intimite friends all have different ideas about the matter. So perhaps with your knowledge and experience you can help me. D. M. Ans: On such occasions as this the so called “weaker sex” must and can shoulder the burden of sen_ siblo reasoning. The average life fa long enough to take each stage in its proper order. I am sure your idea on the expression of love in your particular case is right and proper. Ths complete development 01 the body and mind is- attained only when youth is successful in supressing immature emotions. If your boy fidend is true-blue he will like you even more for using dis cretion in this phase of your love affair. “TI,W * ■ ** Otar.nui 35* KiDKEYTROUBLE Stop Getting Up Nights To harmlessly flush poisons and acid from kidneys and relieve ir ritation of bladder so that you can stop “getting up nights'’ get a 35 cent package of Gold Medal Haar lem Oil Capsules and take as dir ected.
