Moc>‘y « The Spirit of Thanksgiving ‘Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is good, and His merry en tiuncth forever.” Our idea of na tional thanksgiving developed from the- colonial times. After a winter rf intense suffering and loss of lives, God brought, with the fol lowing spring, friendship and food to those sainted Puritan Pilgrims. When summer was ended they had corn and other provisions were available. When the governor looked back at the previous win ter’s experience and present con ebtions, he thought it good to pro claim a period of thanksgiving to Almighty God. Since that time, different days and dates have been set and chang ed, but the spirit still lives. Once, each year, one day, the last Thurs day of November is set aside as National Thanksgiving. With many people, God receives more thanks on this day for all other days together. With others, Thanks giving has become a day of mere feasting and revelling but God gets no pleasure out of such. Everyone who loves God thanks Him daily for this unspeakable gift, but let us as a nation thank Him for changing conditions, for our President and O gross, for re iief and relief work and su. h jobs that has blessed some with. These may not he ull you expect, but we were nnd could not be worse off. We could have been destroyed by the flood of last winter, or by , war or by disease, war and mur drr. but God is merciful #,nd long 1 suffering to us, for which we give thanks. Let each person cry: “Biess the Lord O my soul end forget not ali his hen fits bless h:ro nil that is within nu*, praise II s Holy name.” Cnultan Wins Mrs. Ruth Ham, 7001 So. 27th street, Omaha- is th • possessor of a brand new refrigeration as a re suit of an erVtry in the ‘‘Better Living with Electricity” contest, sponsored by the Nebraska Power Company and the General Elcc'ric Company. Just why is this? One main reason for shampooing the hair is to keep th-? scalp and hair clean and in a condition of health. If this is true, and it is, then the hair and scalp should be sampooed as often in the winter as in summer. This statement naturally brings up the question as to how often should a head of hair be shampoo ed? We ha'e been told for years that it would ruin our hair, if we washed it too much; and under no condition should we shampoo our hr.i • more than once a month, then even Cn davs. Th's is not al ways true. Since the main object or purpose of the sham-poo is cleanliness of the scalp and hair', then the hair should be shampooed whenever it becomes dirty. This of coursp, must necessarily be determined by I he health of th^ individual condition of th? sen Ip nnd hair.
