dent of the Douglas County Sunday
School association at the annual con
vention yesterday in the First Bap
tist church. W. F. Coxad waa elected
first Vice president; J. H. Ready, sec
ond \ ice president; Blanche Webster,
secretary, and ,T. I,. Duff, treasurer
Dr. V. If. Vartanian, professor of
religious education and moral philoso
phy in the University of Omaha,
spoke at last night's session on the
progress of Christianity during the
first century.
"They used the intensive method
in their work,” he sold. "First, they
converted Jerusalem and then Jude#
and Samaria.
“They waited for the necessary
spiritual equipment which was sent
to them at Pentecost, when they saw
the great accessions of ronverts. At
that time, Peter, who had denied his
Master at the time of the crucifixion,
was filled with the holy spirit. Peter
became the great leader in the evan
gelizntion of Jerusalem and Judea.
Paul, who was on his way to Damaa
rus, was smitten with the holy spirit
and converted and became the great
leader in the spread of the gospel
to far lands.”

Liberty Man Wed in Ohio
on Honeymoon in Florida
IJberty, Feb. 13.—Word was re
ceived here today of the marriage in
ChilHeothe. Cl., of W. J. Reynish of
IJberty, to Miss Rachael Perry, the
ceremony being performed at the
home of relatives of the bride. They
wdll spend the remainder of the win
ter In Florida and return to Liberty
to live.

Mystery Hides Cause of Fatal Kansas Rail Crash

train No. 101, Omaha to Kansas City, crashed head-on Into a freight train at N'earman, Kan., February 7. Mystery
surrounds the cause of the collision. The freight train was on the siding at the left of the picture when the fast
passenger train suddenly swerved off the main line Into it; hut the switch was In perfect condition after the crash.

Coyote Caught in Trap.
Wymore. Feb. 19.—A large coyote
was caught in a steel trap by Jtolph
Cowell of the Liberty vicinity. lie set
his traps for other animals Tuesday
anil found the coyote fighting to get
free when he went to inspect the trap
Wednesday morning.
