Guide Rock is making great preparation for
the biggest celebration ever held in the
Republican Valley. Program starts at 10
a. m., with a big parade. Patriotic speak

Rev. and Mrs. L. A. Whitaker and
children left Wednesday for their
home in Chicago after spending sev
eral months with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. W. H. Thomas.
In order to relieve a lot of extra
work on tho passenger trains the C.
B. & Q., has put on a milk train which
runs from Lincoln to Oxford via
Wymorc, and thence Into Lincoln
over tho main line.
Last week the citizens of McCook
held a meeting for the purpose' of
securing funds to erect a new modern
hotel in that city. Before the meet
ing closed $73,000 was raised and
according to last leports it has gone
over the S 100,000 mark.
Jas. Peterson reports a good bind
er business this year, having sold
about fifty machines, eighteen of
which went out of tho Guide Rock
store. This is not as big a business
as implement men have been doing
for tho reason that the farmers have
been buying machines of late yaers
and are pretty well stocked. Guide
