Last week the editor of this paper
traded for a patent right, and conclu
ded to settle himself down to the en
joyment of prospective wealth and af
fluence to be derived therefrom. But
it seenis that he was not to be let
alone in the enjoyment of the now ac

Wo desire again to publicly express

Cloud for their kindness manifested
upon the evening of March 3d. When
we came home late in the evening the
people were gathering at the church,
and we soon found a goodly number

The Argu.i mournfully says that it
lost a good subscriber when Mr. Boss

Rev. J. L. Elliott organized a Free
Will Baptist church in school Dist.
No. 23, Batin precinct, last Sunday.
On Sunday, the 2Gth there will be
preaching at 10-30 o'clock by Rev.
Elliott, and twelve or thirteen persons
will be baptized by emersion.
Mrs. L. N. Edson, of Cowles, who
wont east to visit her parents in Illi
nois some time ago, died at her fath
er's residence in that state recently.
The bereaved husband and children
have the sympathy of the entire
neighborhood in their great afllic
tion. M. N. Kress, alias Wild Bill, the
hunter and trapper who lived on the
Little Blue, near Spring Ranche
eleven years ago, ami who was well
known to most of the old settlers in
this county, is now a resident of Ayr,
Adams county, and is said to be a law
abiding citizen.

John Duston, one of the parties who
stole John Waller's horses, and who
was arrested at Smith Centre, Kansas,
on the strength of a postal card sent
from this office giving a description of
the horses, was taken to Missouri on
a--requisition from the governor of that
state to-answer to the charge of horse
stealing and other- crimes committed
there. TSpon hearing of the nrrcst of
the thiefc Sheriff Warren procured a
requisition-and was in the act of start
ing after the man when he heard that
the Sheriff from Missouri had got
ahead' of hitm It matters little- in
wBat state the culprit is punished, so
that the punishment is swift and sure.

Mrs. Mackey, wife of C. C. Mackey
