DR. DIO LEWIS.
Dr. Dio Lewis lectured to the peo
ple of Plattsmouth on last Sunday
evening and they testiSed their inter
est by t arniug out in such numbers as
to pack the Methodist Charch to its
utmost capacity.
His subject was Temperance, but he
talked chiefly upon the use and abuse
of tobacco, a form of Temperance in
which we fear he could find less fol
lowers even than in Temperance in re
gard to alcoholic stimulants. The Doc
tor is an earnest speaker, however, and
as such must impress his hearers if he
does not always -convince them, and
he always sends them away with the
feeling that they have heard arguments
and facts well worth listening to. We
are very glad that the presence of rela
tive9 in the city brings him among us
so often, although we are sorry that il
health, which we understand is the
case, necessitates bis return to Cali
fornia. We ho;:e however that he may
recover there.

In the whole history of medicine, no
preparation has ever performed such
marvellous cures, or maintained so
wide a reputation, as Ayer's Cherry
Pectoral, which is recognized as the
world's remedy for all diseases of the
throat and lungs. Its long-continued
series ef wonderful cures in all cli
mates has made It universally known
as a sate and reliable agent to employ.
Against ordinary colds, which are the
forerunners of more serious disorders,
it acts speedily and surely, always re
lieving suffering, and often saving
life. The, protection it affords, by its
timely use in the throat and lung dis
orders of children, makes it an invalu

in every home. No person can afford
to be without it, and those who have
once used it never will. . From their
knowledge of its composition and

As are the experiences of ibis life, none are
without its silver lining. Trimble and cares
come; some abide A', iili'iis ; some pass away.
To-day the body is vigorous, to-morrow it, is
dead and gone ; lite at best is short ami the
great problem how to perpetuate it is still un
solved. Life, however, can be prolonged, the
weak and feeble body made silting, no matter
from what cause induced, and instead of being
a burden to dispeplic end debilitated bodies,
can be made anu enduring pleasure : But how?
Simply bv the daily and moderate use of Dr.
Green's Bitter Tonic. This truly medicinal pre
paration is not a cheap and trashy article. In
tended simply to stimulate and then leave the
second state of the body worse than tho first,
but it generally relaxes the bowels, stimulates
the liver, making it work oT the poisonous hu
mor of tlie blood, controls and regulate; diges
tion, thereby removing the cause of headaches
and low spirits, relieves flatulency anil foul
stomach, giving tone ami stability to that or
gan with an increased and healthy appetite ;
regulates female weaknesses, prevents lever
ami ague ami malarious diseases, protc-ts tlia
svsreiii from unwholesome air and impure wa
ter, ami vitalizes and tones the whole body
airainst all attacks of disease. Tiy it. and you
will find it pleasant to the taste aud healiiix to
the body.
In sudden or severe cases of Liver Complaint,
or iu constipation of the bowels, a few doss of
Dr. Green's Liver Pills will assist the Tonic in a
cure, and if you are shaking with ague. Dr.
.Green's Ague' Pills will drive it away.
