Dr. Dio Lewis lectured to the peo ple of Plattsmouth on last Sunday evening and they testiSed their inter est by t arniug out in such numbers as to pack the Methodist Charch to its utmost capacity. His subject was Temperance, but he talked chiefly upon the use and abuse of tobacco, a form of Temperance in which we fear he could find less fol lowers even than in Temperance in re gard to alcoholic stimulants. The Doc tor is an earnest speaker, however, and as such must impress his hearers if he does not always -convince them, and he always sends them away with the feeling that they have heard arguments and facts well worth listening to. We are very glad that the presence of rela tive9 in the city brings him among us so often, although we are sorry that il health, which we understand is the case, necessitates bis return to Cali fornia.
