The undersigned having made arrangements for
establishing a Republican paper at Lincoln, the Cap
ital of the State, have the honor to announce to the
public that the materials ror a first-class publishing
and job office have been ordered and will be ready
lor business in a short time.
The "COMMONWEALTH" will labor f.r the early
and rapid developemcnt of the resources of our inte-
ior counties and the State generally, by the influx of
hardy immigrants, and for the immediate construct
tion of the iron highways of commerce, to make a
market for the first grain growing section of the
Union. As an exponent of Republicanism it will
sustain the policy adopted by the Congressional ma
jority, in obedience to the mandates of the men who
carried the flag from the "River to the Sea." But
while faithful to the principles of the Republican
party, we shall freely consider and dbems the great
questions of the day as they present themselves, in
all candor and with such ability as we may possess
