By 'Oorothy Greene Phone 5-7508 • Mrs. Ed Qualls and daughters, Sandra and Barbara, have re turned from a week's visit with relatives and friends in St. Louis, Mo. * * * Hear that Mrs. Harry W Peter son was honoree at a birthday party held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Botts recently. * * * Mrs. Bessie Henderson of Han nibal, Mo., is visiting her nephew, Louis Henderson and Mrs. Hen derson. * * * The annual banquet of the Braille Club observing White Cane Week was held Wednesday night at the Y.W.C.A. Mrs. Cor delia Walker and Mrs. Basilio Bell were among the 75 persons present. Plans are being made for the annual convention to be held soon in Nebraska City, Nebr. # * * The Rev. and Mrs. R. H Powell and daughter Robbie Lee, mo tored to Hastings and Grand Is land, Sunday in their new ’50 Ford. They w7ere accompanied by James and Ida Adkins and Curtis Hill. * * * * Mrs. Leola Fields has returned to her home in Rockford, 111., after spending several months re cuperation at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Bradley. * * * The Rev. and Mrs. John Favors of Omaha were present with a number of their students, at the Dr. Bunche Convocation, at the coliseum on Monday. The Rev. Al fred Newton of Beatrice was also noticed in the audience. * * * * Mrs. John Miller entertained with a luncheon for 13 young ma trons on Friday. Mrs. Helen Brame was honoree. * * # Hear that Mrs. Thomas Estes observed an 82nd birthday re cently with many compliments. * * * Mrs. John McWilliams is re ported to be at home and much improved after being hospitalized for several days. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Adams and family returned Sunday evening after spending a week in Ne braska City, Nebraska. * * * John Kidd, a student at Lincoln University at Jefferson City, Mo., will be the house guest of his rel atives, Mr. and Mrs. I. B. Colley. He is the nephew of Mr. and Mrs I. B. Colley and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Colley of Lincoln, and a brother of Rev. Paul Kidd, well known A.M.E minister of Kansas City, Kan. * * * * Paul Fields of New Brunswick, N. Among those on program were the Quinn Chapel choir. It was really nice. % * Wednesday, May 12, there was a Mother’s Day dinner given at the Y. W. C. A. I sang two songs “Today” and “We Are Our Heav enly Fathers Children.” * * * Thursday, May 11, everything was real quiet. What’s happening? * * * Friday, May 12, Marion and Gladys Bradford were in town visiting from Omaha. I wonder if there is some special reason that Marion came down? Smiles. * * * Saturday, May 13, a number of teens were over to Betty Bow man’s for a get-together. There were quite a few from Omaha. They were: Pitman Foxall, Bobby Taylor, Donald Morton, Donald Clain and many others. * * * Visiting in Lincoln for a while are Nate, Robert and Gladys Cas teel all from St. Joseph, Mo. * * * Also visiting in Lincoln over the week end were Bill Darnell and Max Woodlee both from Alli ance, Neb. $ * * Friday, May 12th, Delores: Bowen and Doris Roberts were in Omaha, Neb., to attend the Alpha : Phi Alpha Spring party. For instance right now the dandelion greens are at their best and the many other wild greens such as dock pepper-grass, wild tomato, wild lettuce, wild turnip etc. This is my recipe for Dandelion greens cooked—Clean thoroughly the amount of greens necessary and this requires lots and lots of washing, so they are absolutely free from dirt and gravel. Have a vessel full of boil ing water, add greens and tablespoon soda. Boil just five minutes, pour in a colander drain George H. Wentz Inc. Place greens in and cook slowly about one hour, salt to taste. Serve with sliced hard boiled eggs, pepper sauce and your favorite cornbread.
