Oar Children By Mrs. w B Davis /iA nJf< /// Parents Partiality? Are we ever justified ia slaw mipMrtMlity MMWftBTdBldWB? Are we honest enough to admit that the condition exists? Or can we salve our coosctenee by saying that he or she is just over sensitive: sensitiveness is one of the finer emotions of the human being, not a fault to be eritacaed. Too often in families where there are two or more children, the difference made by either or both parents is so evident, that how ever young, the child naturally develops an inferiority complex that may never be overcome, and prove to be root for much bitter ness with which it faces the rest of the world whom he fancies is against him: and that he is being pushed around by everyone, that he must and will get even, get what he can at whatever cost or someone will get what he should have . We are aware of the dif ference in personalities, abilities, and all the traits one possesses to make one likeable or unlikable but can we. should we. apply this way of showing our approval for the trait or whatever we admire, ■sometimes a smothered ambition of our own or a great fault of our own. Maybe it is difficult not to be partial, surely not impossible, only those to whom partiality has been shown can know the real pangs, the deep loneliness it creates. It seems a trivial matter per haps to the parent but if you are guilty, check and see; try to reme dy the situation before irrepar able damage is done, as an over dose of either Superiority or In feriority is not good for our weil-bemg ... Dulles IRls Racial Religious Bigotry by John Foster Dulles NEW YORK. (AP). The United Nations is a good school in which to learn the lesson of brotherhood. In the assembly, ideas are freely exchanged. Since there are over; 50 delegations each, on the aver-* age, has one minute of speaking to 50 minutes of listening. The American delegates have been surprised to learn how many others there are who think that our nation is not, as our national motto proclaims, "One out of many.” but rather. "Many out of one ” They think that bigotry and intolerance are prevalent. In consequence, our prestige in the world is greatly weakened. The best way for men and women to achieve fellowship is for them to work together for common goals. Then they think of each other as comrades. At the United Nations assembly in London, the three top mem bers of the United States "team* on trusteeship reflected the Jew ish and Christian faiths, the white and Negro races, the dem ocratic and republican parties. The three worked together without the slightest sense of be ing "different.” DR. DAVID MORRIS Physician of Bayonne, N. J„ who gave $5,000 to the Lincoln U. Smitherman Care of the Hands and Nails Our hands are always on dis play. Whether we are playing bridge or washing dishes, our hands must be taken care of and treated with care. First of all let’s discuss the shaping, filing and care of the finger naiL There are thirteen different shaped nails. The most common ones are, Olive shaped, which is considered the most beautiful shaped nail, the date shaped nail which is very simi lar to the olive shaped nail, the concave, convex .angular, narrow’, roofed and arched. The roofed, arched, and convex are the most difficult to shape and keep. The angular nail should be filed sli ghtly pointed even if you have long fingers. Ordinarily, one writh long fingers and slender hands should w^ear nails not too long and not too pointed. Short fat hands and fingers should w’ear long pointed nails. Your lunula, also known as the half moon, can be made visible or made to appear larger by push ing the cuticle of the nail down constantly. When nails are soft and break easily, there is a possibility of a systemic disorder; but oil cream is a good remedy anyway, and should be applied to the nails before retiring. Brittle nails, as we know’, comes from a lack of calcium in the system or to a harsh soap or soap powder. These should be treated writh nail oil. Blue nails arc attributed to poor circulation of the blood or a card iac condition. For our hands, a very good hand cream or lotion should be selected and used faithfully. No matter how many times a day wTe put our hands in water, put cream or lotion on each time. Give your hands an occasional mas sage. That is to increase the circulation of blood and to nour ish the tissues. Take care of your hands and nails. They run a close second to your face. W-H4W4 -i- .fr UMBERGER'S 2-2424 • 1110 Q.
