Spolir is visiting in different points of Colorado. Mrs. Dr. Hendrickson reports a seven pound baby boy at Fred Kornrumpf’s on Sunday evening last. Mrs, B. M. Gasteyer went to Omaha Tuesday |morning on a bush ess trip. She will return this evening. James Bayne and James W. Conger shook hands with the Odd Fellow Wil liam Goat last Saturday night. J. W. Long and R P. Starr went to Lincoln, Tuesday morning, to see that the solons were stacking up right. Ex- Governor Silas Garber, who died at Red Cloud last Thursday, was a cousin of Mis. Dr.Hendrickson of this city. Grandma Snyder returned from her eastern trip Tuesday evening, and B. T. has one of those ecstatic smiles ouce more. Big hearted Harry Minpr. of the Round Front barn, furnished a number of carriages free for the Kornrumpf funeral, Saturday Jim and Lee Burnett shot four big raccoons last Saturday, on the river just west of town and Sunday a number of our citizens feasted thereon. Ewell A. Swanson of Hazard was in thecitv Monday and gave us a pleasant call. He sold an 80 acre farm to Mrs. Katharine Meyers and came up to make the transfer. County Tie isurer Sweetland will pay off $8,000 of the remaining $11,000 of the r i»r< ad bonds at once. He succeed ed in getting a 3 per cent reduction on the time yet to run on these bonds, which say* s the county about $390. A number of the Masonic boys, among whom we noted R. L. Col, Young returned home from his protracted stay among friends in Tennesee, last Thursday evening. Miss Minnie Komrumpf came up from Omaha last Monday ro nurse her sick father and staid until after the fu neral. We received a pleasant call on Mon day from Mrs Sarah M. Wilson. Grand ma Wilson always has a good word to speak for the paper. Adam Zahu was a favored caller last Saturday. Adam was so favorably im pressed with California during his trip there last summer that he thinks verv strongly of moving out there Our good friend, 1*. Poast, from near B«e!us, has bought the Thun farm west ot Ravenna, and the News of that town says he is planning to start in the dairy buisness and has an ideal place for the business. The entertainment given by the ladies of the Unity Club, at the opera Inuse, last Friday night, for the pui P'-se of raising funds to put in a public drinking fountain, was voted by those who attended a« a little the best ama teur affair given in the citv during the past. We were unable to attend, bup from the reports heard of it, we missed a mighty good thing. Wouldn’t it prove profitable for the ladies to repeat the program, as we believe they might realize a considerable sum from a sec ond rendition ? Grandpa Grow is reported very ill. Nightingale enter tained the Methodist choir and a num ber of invited guests at their elegant home, Tuesday, evening of this week, the occasion being the J7th birthday anniversary of tluir daughter, Mi.-s Beatrice. The Aurora Republican and the Sun gave notice last week of the disposal by D. M. Johnson of that city ot his busi ness to P. M. Green, but that he will re embark in business there again, and we doubt not on a larger scale than j formerly. Mr. Johnson is the senior; member of the firm of Johnson Lorentz & Co. of this city. Sunday w*s a gala day in Loup City for lovers of sleigh riding. Every con ceivable vehicle on runners was put to use and many were manufactured for the occasion. The editor is indebted to that prince of livervmen, Harry Miner, of the Round Front barn, for a splend d ride in one of his fine cutters, behind one of his spanking teams. Harry sat s he could have let out a dozen more cutters for the day, bad he them on hand. As it. wa« his sleigh bells were in constant use till midnight.
