Mr and Mrs Alfred Andersen were in the city Wednesday. Geo. Waro of the east side brought a load of hogs to town Tuesday. Nicholas Daddow of the south side waa at the county seat Wednesday. R W. McCombs of the south side was doing business at the hub Wednes day. J M. and Harry Taylor came home Saturday and spent Sunday with their families Mrs. Katie Burrowes and Miss Emma Johansen made a trip to the east side last Sunday. The merry-go-round is in town, which may have a tendency to give tho wheels in our head a rest. Miss Effie Moon, wbt has been visit ing in Kansas City the past summer ar rived home last Friday. Peter Rowe went to the farm of Mr. Gee of the west side the first part of the week to do some plastering. “Pat Crow" has been visiting Kan sas the past ten da>s. Some says he is posting up en Kansas' prohibition ideas. W. II. Iladdox, of Elm township came in to see us last Saturday and add ed bis name to our subscription list. Mrs. White, nee Callen, a former res ident of this county, and who has been living in Wyoming the past eight years is visiting relatives and friends in Sher man and Valley counties. Humphrey of Farwell, president of the Presbyterian assemblies of this part of the state, was in the city Tues day night arranging tor a Sunday school convention to be held at this place in the near future. Dr. Bogen of Ashton, was in the city over night Wednesday night. The doctor was instructor in materia medica and therapeutics at the Omaha Medica) College He Is well qualified for his profession. T. 11. Elsuer has erected a row of hitching posts in front of his place oi business and so arranged them that a water ditch is provided for. Mr. Els ner has hit on a good scheme to obvi ate the mud hole at that place. A Hallowene social will be held at Society Hall by the L. of O. A. R , Saturday evening 26th inst. Mr. and Mrs. Henry French went to Grand Island, Tuesday morning. Mr. French is taking examination in the government printing service. Henry is a faithful and most reliable young man and has applied biinseif very close ly for some time and his many friends wish him unbounded success. Mr. Forell, one of the lecturers con nected with the State Agrienltural col lege, was in the city Wednesday ar ranging for a series of lectures on Ag riculture, Horticulture and Stock Rais ing. The lectures will he held on Dec ember 5-6. An able and practical iot of gentlemen will conduct them and every farmer should attend and d scuss these matters of interest with those pract cal gentlemen who have made it a life study. W.
