Therefore, to the utmost of my power, I will defend this doctrine and hla holiness' right and custom against all usurpers of the heretical or Protestant authority whatsoever, e teclally the Luth eran church of Germany, Holland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway, and the now pretended authorities and churches of England and Scotland, and branches of the same now established In Ireland, and on the continent of America, and elsewhere, and all adherents In regard that they be usurped and heretical, posing the sacred church ef Rome, do now denounce and disown any alleg iance as due to any heretical king, prince or state named Protestant or Liberals or obedience to any ot their laws, magistrates or officers. I do further declare that the doctrine of the churches of England and Scotland, of the Calvlnlsta, Huguenots and others of the name of Protestant or Liberals, to be dam- eable, and they themselves to be damned who will not fersake the same. This oath the candidate Is abjured to keep at the hazzard of his life. It was printed In the Chicago inter Ocean and was sworn to be correct at the Cronin trial.
