Mr. R. II. Walker, one of the best-
known citizens of Omaha, died at his
home in this city on Saturday, April
25, 189fi, of Brlght's disease. lie had
been falling lh health for two years,
growing weaker every day, but never
found it necessary to go to bed until
the Thursday before his death. The
funeral occurred Monday, and was
under the direction of the Masonic
order. The G. A. R. attended in a
body, and witnessed the Interment at
Prospect HIIL Mr. Walker leaves a
wife and one son to mourn his demise,
who will have the sympathy of a large
number of our citizens.
News comes to us from St. Joseph,
Mo., that our old friend, Dr. G. A. Fle-
genbaum, one of the charter members
and the first vloe-Presldent of A. P. A
Council No. 6, of Omaha, died in that
city on April 27th, after operation to
provide an external opening by whloh
to Introduce food into the stomach the
asophagus having been constricted
and finally entirely closed by causes
whloh ba filed all medical science to a
certain or relieve until the post mortem
examination revealed the presence of
two malignant fibrald tumors, one at
each extremity of the asophairus.

Clay Clement is announced for a re
turn engagement at the Crelghton for
two nights, commencing Tuesday, May
5th. He will again appear in his great
character creation of the Baron Hohen-
stauffen In "The New Dominion." Mr
Clement modestly calls his olever com'
edy "a character study In four aots."
The soenes of the play are laid in Vlr
ginla, and it tells a wholesome love
story in a charming manner. The
comedy element Is supplied chiefly by
the Baron's struggle with the English

Hen's Republican club had a very
lively meeting at its rooms in the Pat
terson block Wednesday evening. It
was discussing the Crawford System of
voting for candidates for a nomination.
The discussion will be continued next
Wednesday evening.
Prof. W. F. Jamleeon, one of Colora
do's brilliant orators, will deliver one
of his best aad most popular lectures,
the mirror to nature, giving us in his
characterization of the Baron a por
trayal of the real German. A matinee
will be given Wednesday.
Scharwenka, the great Polish pianist
will give one of his wonderful concerts
at Boyd's Theatre on Monday evening
next, presenting a program of much ex
cellence. Among the higher class of
musicians Scharwenka is known as
much for his musical works as for his
ability as an artist, and in fact his fame
in the direction of a creator in the
music world has preceded him here.
Many people from out of town have
purchased tickets for the Scharwenka
concert, and the indications are that he
will appear before a crowded house on
Monday night The sale of seats opened
this morning at 9 o'clock, the prices
ranging from twenty-five cents to one
dollar.
The renowned orator, agnostic and
logician, Colonel Robert G. Ingersoll,
ill deliver his latest lecture, entitled
"The Foundations of Faith," at Boyd's
Theatre on Tuesday evening next. The
eastern press have pronounced this the
greatest effort that the Colonel has yet
