Phillips, Auctioneer. THE 1913 TAXES OF KNOX COUNTY. ;t i Valuation of Knox County For The Year itfi.3 is About $6,000, 009. The fiailroad Companies Are The Highest Individual Tax Payers. The tax list of Knox county’s real estate and city property was hushed last week. The job iH usually a long and tedious one. Usually it is not until .January that the tax list is handed over to the county treasurer, but this year is an exception. The state levy is 50 per cent higher for 1913 than it was for 1912, being 7.H mills for 1913 and 5.2 mills for 1912. The county levy is 1.8 mills lower this year than it was for last year, being 11.2 mills for 1913 and 13 mills for 1912. The total valuation of Knox county for 1913 is about $6,000,000 in round figures. The Chicago & Northwestern railroad pays a total personal tax of $14,343.59. The Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha railroad pays a total personal tax of $6,510.55. Following is a statement of the taxes of the different townships and cities, and villages for the year 1913. The taxes are not much higher than, last year, in fact some places where the township levy and school district levies are lower, the taxes are lower. N. it. The Chicago & Northwestern Railroad company pays a tax of $2,633.65, in the township of Verdigre, the terminal tux of $204.54, which belongs to the town of Verdigre, is included. At Creighton tite K. U. pays a terminal iux of $139.80, and at Winnetoon a tax of $108.40. The Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha railroad pays a terminal 'ax of $161.98 at Crofton, $179.01 at Wausa, and $201.06 at Bloomfield. li will be very pluin to sec, from the above statement, in regard j to the railroads, that they pay a very large part of taxes, their share !H „ * 15 of tL whole amount e! trtes, or in other words th*,v psv $*30 951.01.
