INVENTORY TIME Already some of our merchants are taking inventory and others will start upon . this task the coming week. For the most part, local bu3ines3 houses report a satisfactory volume of holiday trade, although some un der last year. Effects of the reces sion were felt in many lines during the last sixty days and carry over stocks are large enough to warrant January clean-up sales some dealers state. Journal advertising columns will carry information of interest to the buying public along this line the coming week. Considerable 1937 crop corn i3 now being shelled, bringing buying revenue to the farmers and stores with too large stocks of seasonable goods will seek to avoid costly carry over by making price concessions during January a month ordinarily considered "slow."
