department of commerce and has a
very fine position in this department

Hold Christmas Party
The members ot tne cauion:

very beautiful with the colorful de

carrying out of the Christmas spirit.

the occasion of a farewell to Mon-
signor George Agius, pastor of the
St. John's church, who is leaving in

he will visit his sister and other rela
tives.
INVENTORY TIME
Already some of our merchants are
taking inventory and others will
start upon . this task the coming
week.
For the most part, local bu3ines3
houses report a satisfactory volume
of holiday trade, although some un
der last year. Effects of the reces
sion were felt in many lines during
the last sixty days and carry over
stocks are large enough to warrant
January clean-up sales some dealers
state. Journal advertising columns
will carry information of interest to
the buying public along this line the
coming week.
Considerable 1937 crop corn i3
now being shelled, bringing buying
revenue to the farmers and stores
with too large stocks of seasonable
goods will seek to avoid costly carry
over by making price concessions
during January a month ordinarily
considered "slow."
NOTICE TO STOCKHOLDERS
Notice is hereby given to all stock
holders of the Plattsmouth Loan &
Building association, that the regular
annual stockholders meeting will be
held on Monday evening, January 3,
1938, for the purpose of electing
three directors and such other busi
ness as may come before the meet
ing. The meeting will be held at the
office of the association in the Brown
