PUSHING
W0EK
The workmen on the South Sixth
street are pushing the relaying of
the box sewer along the east side of
the street and have made excellent
progress with the floor and sides of
the enlarged sewer this week. There
will be several intakes placed on the
west side of the street, with small
arriers to take the water across the
street under the new pavement into
the large sewer, but work on these
has not been commenced as yet.
The rebuilding of the sewer is
taking a large amount of the brick
that was in the old pavement, it be
ing estimated that between ISO, 000
aud 200,000 brick will be required to
complete the extensions provided for
in the plans. This will take the en-
arged sewers some 50 feet past the
alleys, both to the south and north
of Main street, from which points
they are to be continued to the out
lying intersections, using the 30-inch
tile that formerly started at the Main
street property line and extended
back little more than a third of the
block in each direction.
