Miss Rose OTJonnell, of Union, has accepted a position in the Murray Schools this week, taking charge of the Grammar room, made vacant by the resignation of Miss Tremain. Miss O'Donnell comes to the Murray school board most highly recommended as a school worker. The deceased leaves a wife, one son and two daughters to mourn his loss, and a host of other friends and rela tives in this county and part of the state, as well as in his Indiana home. Dr. B. F. Brendel, who departed from here last Wednesday for his brother's bedside arrived too late to see him alive, as he passed away the night before his arrival. Nebraska Presbyterian Church Notes. Next Sabbath is the World's Tem perance Sabbath. Be present at Sab bath school and church. The saloon would destroy the church if it could. A Salvation Army representative was in our prayer-meeting Wednesday evening, Nov 3d., and told of the work being carried on out at Beatrice. The attendance at last Sabbath ser vices was encouraging. The total at tendance was sixty. Those who were not regula- attendants, we say, come again. Your presence helps. The Women's Missionary Society meets with Mrs. O. A. Davis Friday afternoon. This is the regular month ly meeting, but the members have also i.ten meeting at the church on Thurs day also to sew. The little one and mother are doing nicely, and if you do not believe Troy is hap py just notice the smile on his face the next time you see him. Grand dad Wunderlk-h is about the happiest man in the whole of southern Cass county too. lie says the boy looks just like its granddad. The Journal man has not seen the boy, but will vouch for the fact that if he makes as good a man as his granddad, his mother can be proud of him in her old age. Fine Entertainment. The Edna Earl Concert Party has come and gone, and their excellent en tertainment given at the Puis & Gan semer hall on last Tuesday evening, was one of the best that ever visited Muriay. There was a little larger crowd than usual in attendance, but not near what such an organization should receive. The promoters of the Lyceum Course in Murray this winter will stand an excellent chance of pay ing pretty dearly for their entertain ment if the amusement loving people do not turn out pretty strong for the remaining two numbers on the course for this season. The next number will be given on December fth. See if the house cannot be filled just once. Doing Will in South Omaha. Accept Our Thanks. The Journal man has for some time well knew that the Oldham's have been raising some fine hogs, but up to this week we have never known that by the old saying, "that the proof of the pudding is in the eating," but we can now sneak from this truly tried evi dence. We were treated a full side of spare ribs this week that were simply fine, and we can now speak for the riuality of their hogs. They butchered a couple of fine ones this week. II. C. Long, who has been out in Western Nebraska for the past few weeks, returned heme last Friday. Here he wis looking after his land interests in both Nebraska and Kan sas, un tne re-turn trip ne made a brief stop in South Omaha where he visited with his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Shrader. Mr. Shrader is in the transfer and storage business in that city and is doing fine. He keeps several teams and large auto trucks busy all the time, and has been en joying an excellent business in the storage line.
