This morning the district court
opcaed with the calling of the case
in the matte'- (,f the estate of George
W. Garrison, deceased, which has been
b-oaa.ht from the county court, on ap
oeai by the widow of the deceased.
Tite case involves the settlement of
.-.uite a large estate and the amount
involved will be considerable. The
widow was given some S"00 under the
will and was later ordered by the
county cottrt to turn over to the ad
ministrator several thousand dollars'
worth of notes, which she claimed
haul been given her by her husband
'ucfore his death. The childern of the
deceased contested this claim, with
the lcstdt as noted above. There were
several deeds to real state belonging
to Mr. Garrison which convyed land
to ihi children which have been filed
sincet he death of that gentleman, and
these the widow, through her attor-

Demonstration for Goodrich Company.
The Goodrich Drug company of
Omaha have a representative in this
city who is demonstrating the toilet
articles handled by the firm. Mrs.
Monroe is an expert in this line and
has visited a number of the homes of
the ladies of the city showing the
r.plenaid value of these goods. The
Gering drug store is the headquarters
of the Goodrich company here, and all
orders left there will be looked after
by Mrs. Monroe in person, and the
different toilet preparations shown to
the satisfaction of those who are interested.

Some time ago the Journal made
mention of the fact that hog cholera
had made its appearance on the coun
ty farm, v.st of this city, and that
the superintendent, Mr. Tarns, was
taking steps to see that every effort
was made o stamp out the disease.
On the advice of expert hog raisers
and the commissioners it was derided
to vacinate the remaining animals
there in order to check the spread of
the disease, but this seems to have not
been as successful as was hoped for,
as it failed to check the spread of the
disease, even though Mr. Tarns adopt
